Just watched the Clannad: Kyou Chapter episode which was great.

To think it is the last ever clannad episode :(.

Fingers crossed for Tomoyo After or another of Keys visual novel adapations, they're just so good.

Well hopefully After Story should be licensed soon so we'll see a proper release including this. I haven't seen the extra episode yet (the R2J LE disk is due tomorrow morning so I'm tempted to watch it at lunch time).

I suspect that we may get a license announcement with in the next two months with the first half being released in November and the second in Jan/Feb.

I would like to see Tomoyo After animated as well ... but given their track record it'll be interesting with to see any future projects from Kyoto Animation.

Well I've got my After Story volume 8 ... you get another nice little booklet along with a smaller artbox to hold the various booklets which have come with the different volumes. You also get a pack of seed for the yellow flowers which are on the artboxes ... ;)

edit: well watched the Kyou special, nice and emotional in places. Kyou is one of my favourite characters in the series' with her strength and it's nice when her hard exterior slips.

I've hit the usual wall of having cleared my list of things to watch and now struggling to find something new - sometimes it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Can anyone recommend a sci-fi/futuristic/future earth/plot twist/interesting 'world' - type anime? Don't mind if it's 24 ep or continuing series really.

it really does depend on what you like as the description you gave does cover a wide range really.

And for anyone who's interested and has been waiting patiently the Eureka Seven film is now available if you want to watch it :)

Last Exile, Eva and Lain very definately, i'd also think that the GITS TV and probably Patlabor TV series* would also fit?

I think tehre are some **** fans in here, so this might make them happy - Rightstuf/Nozomi have announced the licence of the OVA (and Lithographs!!!), as well as Junjo Romantica? and Antique Bakery (which looks to be done in a similar style to Emma?).

I'm sorely tempted to order the second season of **** now, but I may hold off until i've seen the first (it should arrive in the next few days).

*Unfortunately it's distributor went bust I beleive, and it's unlikely to get a rescue due to it's age:(

Actually it's better than that as the TRSI/Nozomi announcement for A__a is for the third season (A__a the Origination) as well as the OVA (A__a the OVA: Arietta). (yay!). I would agree with holding off ordering the two parts of A__a the Natural until you have seen the first series just in case you don't get on with it.

Junjo Romantica appears to be a "boys love" series so I'll probably be skipping that. Antique Bakery looks to be in that area as well (I think I've seen episode 1 of this previously and didn't find it very interesting).

ah in that case i might give antique bakery a miss, at least until i've read some reviews :)

That's even better new about A__a I'll probably end up buying seasons 2/3 anyway as from what i've seen/heard I suspect i'm going to like the series, but i'll definately wait until i've at least seen some of S1 (although it wouldn't be the first time i've jumped in and ordered multiple boxes without knowing much about the series;)).

I'm just in the process of tidying up my DVD's a bit* (I just put the Tokyo Godfathers DVD case back in it's collectors box after 6 months  ), and so far i've found 2 GITS t-shirts i'd forgotten about (I thought I'd pretend I was one of those deaf mutes, and the 2nd gig one, both were in the collectors tins), and another tachikoma - i think that takes my running total to about 5 of the ones that came with the DVD's :)

I haven't managed to find the Last Exile paper models though...

*I think one weekend when I have the house to myself I may have to get them all out, take a few pics :p then put them back in something approaching alphabetical order - I've got Tenchi in about 4 different drawers, GITs in 3 places, and whilst one of my units is arranged roughly in order, that was done 3-4 years ago.

I rearranged my cupboards the other weekend as if I don't I tend to only consider about 25% of their content for a re-watch as I can't be bothered to go through all of them each time. It does mean that I'll be finishing re-watching my (slightly bastardised*) box set of Angelic Layer this evening as it was moved from the bottom of one cupboard to somewhere more visible which brought it to my attention again.

* I have the R2UK disks (ADV clearance sale @~£2 disk?) in the R1 artbox (TRSI Bargin Bin @~$7).

The bad side from the TRSI/Nozomi announcements was that it appears that the Maria-sama S4 release won't be until next year when I was hoping it would be Nov-Dec this year.

Anybody been watching Pandora Hearts? About halfway through the currently released eps and enjoying it very much - sort of a fantasy mystery type thing with a chunk of comedy. Definitely one I'll be keeping track of right until the end.

Also, what an incredible OP, one of very few I won't skip through no matter how many times I've heard it before.

Not seen Pandora Hearts although it's in my "possibly watch if I have time" list .... which is probably doubtful at the moment.

ANN appear to be reporting the Bandai have licensed the Eureka Seven film. Be nice if they can actually release it without slipping the date a few time and shipping dodgy disks. A Blu-ray release would be nice too :)

Oh, and it appears Funimation will be releasing the new Eva film 1.0 in limited theatres, 1.01 on DVD this autumn and 1.11 on Blu-ray and DVD in the spring of next year.

Greetings from LA. Some of the costumes at the anime expo here are utterly fantastic, ill post pics when i return, there must be 3 or 4000 cosplayers all staying in this one hotel, i got in the lift earlier to find paedobear in there already, not often you can say that!

My daughter is off to some competition thing, she's having the time of her life.

Any more seasons expected?

Not that I have heard, but I wouldn't rule it out. If they were to make more then it would likely be OVA's like "season 3" as that would fit the number of volumes of the original source material remaining, (I think I read that they have covered 30 out of 35 volumes so far).

I would like a set of OVA's to finish it off, (we need Yumi and Sachiko at Sachiko's graduation :))

I would imagine that Season 4 will be released by TRSI/Nozomi in early 2010, I would guess March'ish.

ok I've just watched the eureka 7 film and I'm like, it would have been ok if I hadn't seen the series. Surprisingly I wasn't as badly disappointed as I was expecting to be too.

Now I'm a huge fan of e7 series and rate it as a top 5 type anime so I suppose I was one of the people that the film was aimed at. The problem is that its not e7 enough, they've got the same characters but they're different personalities and considering it was the people that drew you into the story of e7 then thats not a good thing to do.
I can understand why its been done in the way it has (its explained about half way through and I'm not going to go all spoiler on you) and if you watch it as a separate entity based on this then it works fairly well in that context.

I'd also say that if you go into the story expecting a re-imagined series of the original then (think fma etc) I think you would be wrong to do so as I'd class it more as a side story due to the above.

If you've watched e7 then realistically you are going to watch it and I would recommend that you do actually watch it at some point, the re envisaged nirvash is pretty cool although maybe lacking some of the elegance of the series version.

Plus it was rather entertaining trying to spot the bits which were ripped straight from the series and the end style/image of eureka was nice too :)

If I was to give the film a rating out of 10 I'd say a 7 with the series being one of my few 10/10 series. If I hadn't have seen the series then I suspect the film could have been a 9/10 maybe even a 10/10.
