HL2 Episode 3

i jyst cant get into hl2 i get bored after a few minutes:o

i once got into it & got to cap 12? then lost my saved:rolleyes:

I think you've missed the point of Episodic content. More games of shorter length, at lower prices, released closer together.

That said, Valve missed the third point. ;)

This is the problem, Valve said originally with the episodic content they were looking at approx a 9 month dev cycle, but the reality turned out to be around double that for Ep1 and Ep2. Ep3 should have been out by now even on an 18 month cycle. In November it'll be 5 years since HL2 and you have to say that it might have been nicer to see a nice big epic HL3 game rather than the 2 small eps we've seen so far.

Regarding the source engine I don't really have a problem with it, Cinematic mod looks fine to me. They should get Ep3 out and then worry about building a new engine, rather than go down to the Duke Nukem Forever route of worrying too much about technology advancements.

I remember reading earlier this year, maybe at the start of January, that Episode 3 was still over than a year away as stated by one of the Valve heads. I wouldn't be suprised if they are working on a new engine, either that or they are stretched really thin and don't have the time to put in (what with L4D, TF2 etc).

I can guarantee Valve never said that...

Well, they issued a press release starting like this:

HALF-LIFE 2: EPISODE ONE AVAILABLE JUNE 1 Valve Launches First of an Episodic Trilogy
Bellevue, WA, May 22, 2006 - Valve, developer of the blockbuster series Half-Life and Counter-StrikeTM, announced Half-Life 2: Episode One has gone gold. Episode One is the first in a trilogy of episodes that will conclude by Christmas of 2007.
.....
We decided that a follow-up to Half-Life 2 delivered in 18 months with our first episode was more in tune with what our customers want than waiting 6 years for another monolithic product."

well just keep in mind that if it is released this year it will have been developed faster then just about anything valve have done.

cant believe hl2 took so long but ended up so boring, the eps have been much better paced but dont really seem to have added anything new they have just made me completely sick of the mavity gun.

No, not really, considering work on Black Mesa: Source actually started before Half Life 2 even came out.

You're in a tiny minority. Teeny-tiny ickle little-bitsy minority.
