Follw us on Twitter

Is marketing through the loss of reputation a good idea though ?

Oh well I'm sure they weighed up the pros and cons and made the best choice.

oh dear, bigger companies may well use it but it still doesn't change the fact it shows poor taste :(

Well the Facebook group has 1,092 fans, so I reckon it is quite a clever thing to have, occasionally they send out a message updating people on latest special offers and such, and that's about it.

Twitter on the other hand I think is a bit of a time waste. FB is nice because it's just something to check out when you're on FB if you see a new update, Twitter means actually going on the site etc to find out. Why? I'd much rather just go on the actual OcUK site to find this stuff, plus anybody who actually cares enough to follow the company that closely is probably active on these forums anyway, so is very much aware of special offers through here.

Unless I'm missing something Twitter offers that makes it special to FB/forums.

It's nothing new, loads of companys have been using these social networking sites to advertise their pruducts. I think it's a good idea as its a win win situation and doesn't cost a penny.

Although I don't use any of these sites persoanlly as i'm not into the whole social networking thing.

^^ Agree with the above, Big :( from me.

My Analogy would be like going to a Top club in your slippers. :( Just by associating with Twitter we lose serious amounts of credibility. :(
I feel like a 40 year old at a 9 years olds birthday party that has to stand up front & help the clown. :o

My only concern is that it's purely being used to spam deals, people will get bored quickly - put some office gossip on it. Did Spie look hungover on Monday morning etc..

because it's cheap and tacky, may as well send Spie to Stoke-on-Trent town centre with a sandwich board :p

There are thousands of businesses using Twitter and it clearly helps sales and exposure.

It can only be a good thing. If you don't see the point, that doesn't mean it's not the right thing to do.

Yer because the business is really struggling isn't it. :p:p:p
OcUK is about the Best Hardware & Knowledge available out there & we should have Standards even if it to the detriment of sales, (to a certain extent of course) As the business is built & based on reputation then Trashing it by associating with Twitter for a few more sales I think is a bad idea.

This is just my opinion though & I haven't built a Multi million pound company so what the **** do I know. :D

I'm sorry but what the hell is the point in that page? It's simply stating new products? Can't we find that information on the Overclockers site?

Twitter is the most useless pap I've yet to see.

^ exactly my point, oh and the last sentence also applies to me

Interestingly though it seems to have had a mixed response from the forum members

It's a free way of advertising the company in another way, It's a way of gripping onto a new fad which is doing the rounds. Twitter is extremely popular, so to have an OCUK twitter is surely a good marketing move?
