**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

McIndoe is a good player but no loyalty what-so-ever, went to Wolves after just half a season with us.

He's one of those guys who doesn't stay at one club for too long as well, maybe a bit of a problem in the dressing room. Can't fault his wing play though, he was our best performer the season he was here before he left.

The Sun are reporting that Arsenal have slapped £40m price tag on Fabregas. Sigh. I guess he is leaving then only to be replaced by 20 unknowns that speak French.

Yeah, it's shocking. Totally unbelievable that someone would read AND believe what The Sun says.

When do players have to register into the league. Is it before the league starts or before the transfer dead line?

Usually before about midnight on transfer day - although even that was heavily delayed last summer with both Berba and other transfers being significantly delayed (I think there where some delays in Jan also due to heavy snow at the time)

Sounds like the Sun is doing just as well as NotW also, with them reporting Eto'o is DEFINITELY signing for Utd @£150k a week (yeah right) and in other news Fergie also going in for Ashley Young and Yaya Toure and Huntelaar (that must be nigh on £100m+ worth of talent right there) - I would be VERY surprised if Utd signed one of those four let alone all of them

You know originally I was sure that this Terry to City thing was nothing more than just tabloid rumours, then obviously the other day the statement came out from Chelsea and I thought what the hell were City doing even trying to go after him? Chelsea wouldn't sell and he wouldn't want to leave them, certainly not for City! But bloody hell it dont half look like it might actually happen

Gabriel Obertan from Bordeaux to Man Utd possibly, 20yo striker looks ok but nothing special, Arsenal and AC Milan where chasing also - a bit "meh" if it comes off

Gabriel Obertan is a 20-year-old striker who can play behind the strikers or on either wing. He broke through into the Bordeaux side in 2006/2007 and spent half of last season on loan at Lorient.

Obertan played 16 times for the Ligue 1 champions in the first half of the 2008/2009 campaign and then scored one goal in 15 appearances for Lorient.

Hardly what we want to be honest Fergie, a bloke who cant even make it into the Bordeaux team :(

But they haven't really have they? What a terrible, terrible, story fabricating news paper

Looks to me like he's trying to find the next big thing in France after we missed out on Benzema.

So we're going to end up signing someone half as good and twice as crap :(

If Arsenal only got 40m for Cesc, I'd be devastated. In my opinion he'll be one of the greatest midfielders in the world over the next 10+ years as his game has nothing to do with speed so you're getting 10 years of world class Cesc, for 4m per year that's daylight robbery. I'd be asking for 60m, see what they're really made of.

Chelsea have signed Russian international Yuri Zhirkov from CSKA Moscow for a reported £18m fee.

The 25-year-old left-back, who has played 28 times for Russia, came to prominence during Euro 2008 when the national side reached the semi-finals.

Zhirkov, who can also play in midfield, has joined on a four-year deal.

The Russian utility player is Chelsea's third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of goalkeeper Ross Turnbull and striker Daniel Sturridge.

During his time with CSKA Moscow, Zhirkov helped the Russian club win the Uefa Cup, scoring the second goal in the 3-1 win over Sporting Lisbon.

Zhirkov flew to London on Sunday and underwent a medical before completing his transfer.

Couple of weeks ago everywhere was saying this lad was a winger now he's a LB? Another pretty unimaginative signing for Chelsea if true.

He can play left wing or left back.

I expect to see him starting left wing, and he can act as backup for A. Cole at LB as currently we don't really have backup for him (after Bridge left).

Great signing in my opinion :)

Nice to see someone all of our signings so far under 25 as well :p
