Did anyone see that there is a new SPECS camera on the M25 anti-clockwise between Jct 26 and 27? The 40 limit always extended further than the SPECS cameras, but there seems to be an extra camera at the end of the 40 limit as it becomes NSL again.

Does anyone know if it's active? The cameras seem to be pointing in a different direction to the others..

Just a heads up on this people; these cameras are now part of a 50mph Limit once you reach the turn off for the M11 off the M25. I'm not sure if the cameras were live enforcing a 40mph limit when they were put up...but this is the info I have.

Thanks for registering to post that! :p

Yes, it does seem that the speed limits are totally random there. It's gone from 40 to NSL to 50 - do they just make them up!?

Hopefully it wasn't extending the enforcement of 40 when they were first put up, especially as they have changed to 50 in the space of a few days.

Because Southerners suck, the North is better. :D

You're not far off I dont think. I hate driving the M25, never have I seen such a bunch of idiotic, arrogant drivers in one place.

Before anyone points out the obvious (my location), I'm not a southener, I'm from Glasgow.... But even around here isnt as bad as around london, mostly tractors and the odd horseless carriage on the M5 and A38 :D

after the 40mph tunnel section there is an "extended" specs bit where its 50mph again because of the works theyre doing further on.

before it would be a specs 40mph zone through the tunnel, and then just 50mph signs after that. now the specs have been added to that too and from what ive seen it would have been catching a few numpties out

i drive lots of miles north to south and back every other weekend. i can tell im nearer to home because within 15 miles of the m25 everyone starts to drive like utter retards. i refuse to beleive that im the only person in essex that has a clue about lane discipline... how can these retards not get that we drive on the left in england?

True. Though I think driving gets slower the further out from London you go. It goes from people doing 50 mph in a 30 on the A13, but once your outside the M25, you get many drivers doing around 60 in the left lane, resulting in lorries and slightly faster cars in the middle/outside lane doing 65 and huge traffic problems.

Then again one time there was a car doing ~40 in the middle lane of the A13, I really hoped the police pulled them.....

I saw them on Sat, it's getting to be a pita going to my GF's. Specs for the Hatfield tunnel, then on the M25 :(

Try doing Grays to St. Albans...

Last Tuesday it took 6 hours.

I left at 7am, and got to work at 1pm!

These are just going to make it even worse :(

They just don't get it do they? Stop spending money and time widening motorways and instead teach people how to use the current road space we have effectively.

To be fair, that might have had something to do with the M25 being closed for ages because of an accident. Friend of mine was stuck in that going nowhere for about 4-5 hours :D

All that happened was a lorry caught fire. As usual, Highways Agency knee-jerked and declared national emergency!

Even though that is an extreme case, it regularly takes me 2 hrs.

the whole of "our section" of the M25 is getting widened to 4 lanes in the next two years, it wouldnt supprise me if this 50mph limit stays untill well into 2010. :(

edit: a bit late with that "news" lol

I'm not sure if I can cope with a longer commute. It's becoming rapidly intolerable!

Hopefully they are building a new lane with a minimum speed limit of 120 MPH.

4-6PM during the week, you barely notice the lower limit at all, but at 12-1am its a right pain, esp when youve gone down to 40mph and you can see something catching you in the rear view mirror at big speed..
