**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

This business with Alonso and Masch is really starting to annoy me. I wish they'd just end it and come out and say either way.

God this transfer window has been crap for us

Well unless Real are playing tricks again (and it wouldn't be the first time) then it doesn't look like Alonso will be leaving you lot and the whole Mascherano to Barca thing I always thought was a little iffy as a rumour

So be pleased it looks like you're keeping both of them

from the looks of things thats spot on

I can appreciate how Barca would want Masc, esp if Toure is required in centre of defence a great deal, but the price was always going to be stiff

bit of a ****take that RM will spend £165m on three players but balk at the £30m or so for a renowned midfielder (even if his club havent won anything for a few years :D)

Would that dis-please you? :p

Im sure a lot of people would have liked the heart of Liverpool's midfield to be ripped out :D

to be fair I think Utd have been interested in the past - nearly every daily paper reported it earlier in the summer at one point or another (even the Guardian who seem to be the most accurate )

I meant specificity the part that said
Old Trafford club are close to signing the youngster having missed out on a number of bigger name stars this summer already

Oh and that Liverpool hold any interest :p

Arsenal fans have launched their own Michael Owen-style brochure - in a desperate attempt to sell Emmanuel Adebayor.

The six-page online magazine pokes fun at Adebayor, who is public enemy No.1 among Arsenal fans. The Gooners have fallen out of love with their striker and have copied Owen's sales plug, which helped the England man secure a dream move to Manchester United.

But while Owen's agents, the Wasserman Media Group, and their brochure grabbed Sir Alex Ferguson's attention, the Arseblog website's dossier is unlikely to attract potential buyers.

The website jokingly describes Adebayor as "much better than Marlon Harewood and Mido put together" as well as having a "chance-togoal ratio of 0.0045, bettered by only 453 players last year."

It also says that "scientists have proved that Adebayor + wages + bonus + monogrammed car seats = goals." It says that he is friends with Kate Lawler from Big Brother, Susan Boyle, Hugh Grant and Emmanuel Eboue.

It describes him as "definitely not lazy, never late for training" and "investment in Emmanuel Adebayor could prove vital for your football club".

Andrew Mangan, editor of Arseblog, said: "It's just a bit of fun based on the Michael Owen brochure. It's not an axe to grind against Adebayor but he is the guy most likely to leave this summer."

The Togo star became unpopular with Arsenal fans last summer after publicly admitting he was ready to leave and that led to him being jeered at the start of the season.

BROCHURE

HaHa seriously shows how much the Arsenal fans want rid of him, unusual thing wanting a proven goal scorer gone from your club but I guess that speaks volume about his attitude over the past 12 months

I for one wouldnt shed a tear if he left...hes far too inconsistant when scoring goals imho. He seems to score the difficult goals pretty easily but when it comes to sitters..he cant put them in. Wouldnt consider him as a proven goal scorer...hes had one good season and since then has been decidedly ****.

Id love to see him go for a decent amount...dont know if AC Milan are still after him anymore though as its gone all quiet on that front.

Robin van Persie has signed a new long-term contract at Arsenal.

The Dutch striker, 25, was the Gunners' leading scorer last season, with 20 goals from 44 appearances, and the deal is reportedly worth £80,000 a week.

Van Persie, who arrived from Feyenoord in 2004, said: "I have been at the club for five years now and there really is a great feeling here at Arsenal.

"We have a top-class manager, a squad full of superb young players and brilliant supporters."

Van Persie added: "Arsenal have a very bright future and I want to be part of it."

Arsenal have not revealed the length the length of Van Persie's contract, but he hinted he wanted to play the rest of his top-class career at the Emirates and stated: "My heart is with Arsenal and I just can't picture myself in a different shirt. I just can't see it now because I love this club so much.

"If you look at the last five years, look at the steps I have made every season, if you look at the support the boss and the whole club gave me, the fans gave me, my team-mates gave me - this is the right decision."

Balls :(

Looks like Wenger is tying up his top talent before venturing too much into the market for new players. Could end up being a successful tactic.

10.37 Reports in Spain have claimed Manchester City have bid for Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi. The player's agent, though, insists his client would only move to one of Europe's 'top-six' clubs.

He cannot go there :(

Hm, he's done nothing to prove he's worth a top team. When Arsenal played Villareal in the CL he was literally non-existant in both legs, and for Arsenal's defence to totally neutralise a striker over 2 legs is almost unhead of.
