Definitely, I've seen HUGE performance gains on my (very low spec) HP 2133 mininote over Vista. I'm very impressed.


I'll be buying it along with a nice SSD, which will hopefully have come down in price by then!

sigh, i'd love to say no but i probably will, after all i only bought vista home basic for this PC (previously on home premium (old PC) and my laptop is also on home premium) because i needed a windows OS and it was the cheapest one available commercially. i'm still annoyed that they're selling what is essentially a service pack (or even just a minor upgrade) as a major upgrade

They are going back to the old (pre-XP) windows release schedule, nothing more.

Probably also the first OS I will buy for myself. Probably either retail Home Premium or Pro at the pre-order offer prices. I deliberately skipped Vista for personal and work use (well I tried it out a couple of times briefly) and have been waiting for Windows 7.

so it's a minor update then (like i said), which shouldn't sell at major update prices. i just feel it's a money making exercise (yes it's a business blah blah blah blah but) it's essentially vista tarted up a bit and a bit more like what vista was supposed to be.

no need to get those knickers of yours in a twist
