Depends how you quarter it. You probably meant the usual way, which is A6 (as above). You could also fold it horizontally, or vertically, or into triangles, none of which are A6.

A3 isn't double A4, A2 is. A3 is 1.5 times A4
A6 is half.

Why is it on the damn photocopiers you have to go 141% to go from A4 to A3?
A2 is double the length and width of A4, and A3 is double the area of A4.

If there was an image on the paper then you would need to reduce both the horizontal and vertical axis by equal amounts otherwise you will distort the image (no rotating the paper 90 degrees won't work)
