My clio is a nicer place to be than a saxo aswell, but just because of the fact it isnt a saxo, and i dont have a citreon badge on the car. Saxo's around here are chavs cars and that is it so i personally wouldnt own one as that is what i have always seen them as.

I would go for the Zetec-S in the OP's postition even if i had to spend a bit extra to get hold of one, purely for the fact it looks better and to be honest isnt going to be left for dead by a VTR

I agree, although the steering wheel on the Zetec S seems to disintergrate :(

You can't get a decent one for this kind of money, they are holding their value well and most in this price range are phase one's with over 100,000 on the dial.

I like them, I was going to buy one when I got my VTR but they were commanding a higher price.

They look lovely in imp/performance blue, what ever the shade is.

I would like to have a go in a 1.7 Fiesta Zetec S.

the 1.7 conversation is not worth it tbh, its doesnt make the car that much faster, however a 1.7 FRP conversation makes it a lot more fun.
 
If you can find a Zetec S Phase 2 for around 1500 quid without moon mileage, please do let me know where as I have been looking for the past few days without much luck!
 
We should just turn this into a poll :)

If its purely a choice if VTR or ZS (ignoring VTS, 106 etc etc) then the ZS is a much better all round car but as Janesy said, try both and see which you prefer
 
i owned a VTR for a few years. Yes it was plasticcy inside, yes it was a bit cramped and yes it wasnt exactly "fast".

BUT get it wound up down a good B road, and it would put a huuuuuge grin on your face. Pedals were NEVER an issue, reliability likewise (though mine was 2 years old when i bought it) and all-in it was a totally pleasureable experience! Do eeeeeet!
 
lol 9 seconds to 60...just made me giggle. I had a Ford Fusion hire car the other day, that was probably around 10 seconds...simply horrific!

If it's between a VTR or Zetec S i'd go for the Zetec S. More comfortable to drive and better spec'd.

You will either like the Saxo or hate it.

Simple.
