Behold, My New Jaguar XJ8, in pictures.

Most of the music I listen to could be said to make me seem older more so than the car I drive, or I think so at least.

I really like the S60 T5 and later S60 R actually :) . I like the S80 too, based on looks and interior, I haven't driven one though.

Nothing wrong with a lot of volvos, especially T5s and the like. If you feel old driving them its either a serious preconception or a self image issue :P

what a ****** lovely car.....these have really caught my eye recently just wish i could afford to run one... ah well

Hope ya enjoy it!

JUst out of curiosity, any reason why you didn't try and get a bigger engine?

Do the bigger engines still cost a lot more?

I did, but the 4.2s seem very rare in Sport spec they are nearly all SE's, and of the couple of 4.2 Sports I did find, neither were the right colour or had the right options, I particularly wanted a black one with light coloured leather and satnav, dark green would have been acceptable too, but no other colours.

Slippers yea, I'll manage without the pipe though, since I actually want to live to see 75 :D ...the Exige isn't my cuppa either tbh, great little sports car though.

Yes indeed ...it really came down to several choices, did I want a 4.2 and all the toys and the SE spec, with the rather unpleasant grill, usually less stylish wheels and too much chrome for my tastes, etc. Or, did I want a 4.2 Sport spec in a colour I didn't want and probably with other bits missing, or did I go for everything I wanted and except the 3.5L engine. Well after driving both I decided that taking the hit on the engine wasn't so bad in the end, it still goes very well indeed. It's not like I drive it flat out very often anyway :p ..basically of the options that have appeared on Pistonheads and Auto Trader over the last month or so, this one seemed the best all-round choice.

There always seems to be some sort of a compromise to be made, I've never gotten an absolutely perfect car, one that was 100% in every way. To do that, I'd either have to be very fortunate in finding one, or buy new.

I just did another search of Auto Trader and Pistonheads, setting a budget of £12k (my actual budget was £11k, but I set it to 12 to net any that are 'just' over) and I can't find any 4.2 Sports at all now, not even in the wrong colour. There was 1 showing in the UK when I bought mine, wrong colour though and had done about 140k miles, which is too much really, could be close to seeing the air shocks failing etc, and those are expensive.

I bet the 140k miler was seriously cheap and immaculate though given the usage these cars get. Enough to easily fund lovely new suspension, which yours won't have..

It was up at £10.5k iirc, not cheap enough. It'd need to be nearer £9k to get me really interested, also, from the pictures, the drivers seat looked a bit more worn than I would like. Looked like some fat person had been getting on and off it a lot. The outer bolster looked quite crushed.

I dunno, it didn't 'feel' right, even from the pictures, you know what I mean.

lovely cars, but i have to agree about the interior, just doesn't do it for me, it's the centre console i don't like.
