Yes indeed ...it really came down to several choices, did I want a 4.2 and all the toys and the SE spec, with the rather unpleasant grill, usually less stylish wheels and too much chrome for my tastes, etc. Or, did I want a 4.2 Sport spec in a colour I didn't want and probably with other bits missing, or did I go for everything I wanted and except the 3.5L engine. Well after driving both I decided that taking the hit on the engine wasn't so bad in the end, it still goes very well indeed. It's not like I drive it flat out very often anyway

..basically of the options that have appeared on Pistonheads and Auto Trader over the last month or so, this one seemed the best all-round choice.
There always seems to be some sort of a compromise to be made, I've never gotten an absolutely perfect car, one that was 100% in every way. To do that, I'd either have to be very fortunate in finding one, or buy new.
I just did another search of Auto Trader and Pistonheads, setting a budget of £12k (my actual budget was £11k, but I set it to 12 to net any that are 'just' over) and I can't find any 4.2 Sports at all now, not even in the wrong colour. There was 1 showing in the UK when I bought mine, wrong colour though and had done about 140k miles, which is too much really, could be close to seeing the air shocks failing etc, and those are expensive.
