Windows 7 hits RC stage Build 7100

Yep drivers is where I'm having issues,(HP C6380 Printer) more info here http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=Software&thread.id=2698 ,Vista drivers work fine in Vista but not Win 7 RC ,to be fair its not Win7 fault since its not officially released yet, at this time its not perfect for sure whatever the hype from some users, its a good OS but not perfect.

More news on RTM versions here http://keznews.com/5946_Windows_7_RTM_Update__Roadmap_Possibly_Altered .

Sorry I haven't read this thread, but have you tried XP drivers and the XP compatibilty option, via the previous versions of Windows option, as I did this for my sound drivers and it worked?

I was bored ;) Ignore the little voice in your head now!

lol. Yeah there's no real point in changing, unless you are bored! I expect I will only change again once the retail release arrives. The only reason I did install the latest version is I had to do a reinstall on my SSD and had already downloaded the latest iso.

Yep tried that too,its the old story of waiting for drivers to be released for a new OS,even HP said I just have to wait for Win7 drivers to be released, anyway good old Vista is working fine with the printer so can wait.

:)

Flash

Flash doesn't appear to be working correctly in Chrome.

Just looked at the Youtube thread in GD, can only see white boxes. Yet youtube works fine.

Escapist Magazine video player doesn't load either.

All working perfectly in FF3.5 though.

If 7600.16384 is indeed the RTM build (which it likely is) then it's final release code meaning to activate, you'll need a legit key. The very keys you'll get with a retail/OEM/MSDN copy.

Keys (serials) will NOT be those issued for beta testing. That legend in his own lifetime orbit30 maybe holds the key for testing purposes

I shall stick to 7232 for my main puter till I receive my MS 7 upgrade - no time soon I dare say!

How low can you go?

Just instaled it on an acer ferrari 3000 laptop.
Which uses such classic technology as
AMD mobile Atholon 2500+ @ 1.86GHz
512mb of ram
ATi Readon mobile 9200

Although I can't find a compatiable driver for the ati 9200 and device manager just has it listed as generic vga adapter.

Apart from that runs firefox and spotify veyr well. Slower than my desktop. But perfectly acceptable load times. Quite surprised really.

Just need to figure out how to get the scroll bar on the touch pad working and I'm sorted.

Pah! That's easy. I'm currently trying a Compaq N410c ultraportable - PIII-M 1.2GHz, 512MB RAM (I did upgrade this to 1GB first - I'm not that silly), ATI Radeon Mobility.

All went swimmingly until I tried to connect to the internet. No way José. The network adapter is an Intel PRO/100 (82557), and I can't find drivers for it anywhere. Can anyone help please?

PS - Linux had no problem at all. :/

Edit - Skillz! Found the old Vista drivers, cracked the driver package open with the help of compatibility mode, and then pointed Windows 7 at the driver files. It said Yes! Get in! :)

So that's Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix dual-booting on a circa 2002 ultraportable. It's probably cost me about the same as a new netbook by the time I've added up all the upgrades, but I get a bigger screen and far better keyboard and build quality for that. :)

Edit2 - Next up, graphics driver. Radeon 9000. Utterly unsupported, and a common problem it seems. In the end I found a link to a Chinese (or Japanese) site and used more skills to navigate without being able to read two thirds of it. Got what I needed. Can't complete the windows performance experience calculation but I can't get Aero anyway so it's no loss. Everything else works.

Hmm, newsgroups are being very strange since upgrading yesterday.

After a few hours the download rate drops from 1.5-1.6mb/s to 0-500kb/s like it's competing for bandwidth.

Nothing else is running and there's nothing in resource monitor that shows otherwise, only Newsrover is using bandwidth.

All other downloads remain unaffected (http/ftp/Steam/etc) they go at full whack even while this is occurring.
