Alan Wake PC Release 'Up in the Air'

I'm wondering how these issues of PC gaming are effecting graphics card development. If PC gaming is going the way of the Dodo then they are taking Nvidia down with them :)

In my opinion they realised their high hopes of the game have turned out to not be feasible. They cut out most of the amazing aspects of the game, they go to an Xbox only release and release a cut down mediocre game, people buy it they reap the profits.

My thoughts exactly.
Look how Huxley turned out, UT3 re-skinned.

Kind of glad I've yet to upgrade my PC to be honest, PC is so stale lately.

Aye, I keep toying with the idea but it doesn't make sense anymore to me imo. It's quite a shame that MS thinks that it wont sell on PC, but it definitely wont sell if they put DRM on it so I'll end up buying it on console anyway.

Well, it's been confirmed to be a 360 exclusive now :

So, all thanks to Microsoft Games, we dont get a PC release... And little me here was thinking that Microsoft was going to support PC gaming fully, with things like the, ahem, GFW strategy....

And didnt they use the Alan Wake game to herald the need for quad core based computing etc. I think Intel used at around the time of Core 2 Duo/Quad being released.

What a major kick in the teeth, thanks Microsoft.

Hurry up with the new OS Google !!!

' If ' PC games do eventually become a ghost market then this will have a major impact on the hardware manufacturers, but then the gaming market is iirc smaller than the office / business area of PC hardware sales anyway.

True it's smaller, but I'd have thought it was the gamers demands that were pushing technology forward at rapid speeds. Honestly I won't care what version of Windows I have if I'm not using my PC for games anymore and to hell with the video card, soundcasrd and high spec CPU too.

I don't care.

As impressive as the tech demos and whatnot were, the ACTUAL GAME didn't appeal to me in any way, shape, or form.

Microsoft Suck!!

I had to say it, I maybe 30 but I can still act like a child. I for one am disapointed that it's not coming to PC's, but I'm not going to buy a 360 just to play it!

.

it will come out, remember the rumours of "RE4 not coming to PC!", "GTA4 not coming to PC!"

they all do in the end.

Kind of expected this one, microsoft wants us to buy an xbox360.

they all do in the end.

We're talking microsoft here though, they left pc games for dead since 360 came... Not 1 decent pc exclusive from em anymore unlike in the old days of ensemble studio's and stuff :(. FSX doesn't count :p.

I think the only way Microsoft would back PC gaming is if they had there hands dipped tightly inside one of the video card or CPU organisations. This in fact would make PC gaming more popular than ever, probably not better though :) but as things are currently they appear to have no reason whatsoever to promote or influence PC gaming. This is where the technology is and this is where things advance so quickly, but this is not where the quick $$$ are.

The 'possible' death of PC gaming is going to effect so much more than just gamers. No office in the world really cares what video card's, soundcards or CPU's they are running unless they are in a specialised field where requirements are met so wham goes the market for these premier components.

I'd be hard pressed to find a PC gamer who'll even care about the new version of Windows if the above happens. Can you see Nvidia or AMD hard at work day and night on new display drivers for the sake of old games and artists/developers or studios, then showing off what there new cards can do in Direct X when there are no actual games to use them with.

So bearing this in mind I know there will always be PC games as long as there are PC's. Regarding empty shelves in stores. I'd not worry about this as the next generation of consoles are almost certain to be heavily involved in downloadable games and the shelves will slowly degrade for those too.

Having said that it's a damn shame Alan Wake is 360 only now, especially as it was once stated to take advantage of PC technology.

That was never a rumour though. It was never confirmed, but we all knew it would come out for PC about 6-9months after the consoles due to previous games.
