The old application based 4OD is no more. Instead, CH4 have gone the way of a total web based system with classics and catchups availble for free.

They still have a few ads but with the classics such as Peep Show, Black Books, The I.T. Crowd etc. all for free I think it's one step better than iPlayer atm.

Anyone else used the new 40D lately and what do you think of it? Better than the desktop app?

opoo does this mean i can finally use it on win 7?

The old just used to say "not made for your os" and wouldn't even try to run :(

Cool it works on windows 7, and it no longer asks you for a login.

popout player too so can stick it on the second screen :D

awesome, :D

Yeah I was playign with it the other day. Seems ok to me, but one thing I do like about BBC's iPlayer is the ability to download HD versions of programs.

I never bothered with it because of the desktop app, it annoyed me with it's slow interface and constant age checks. The streaming method is much better.

Yeah it's much easier! I've had a few problems, but since I've upgraded to the new firefox, all been brilliant! I've even started using five.tv streaming! Not ITV though ¬_¬

Just need a way of getting Sky Player now, mwhaha

I am going to try and watch the Inbetweeners, I have never seen it, so my chance to watch it from the start to end. Nothing better to do on a Sunday today :)

Yes, but you used to have to use their desktop client. Which was only ever useable with XP.

Client worked fine for me on Vista. Well I say fine, it was a bit annoying at times e.g. if you wanted to queue up a full series for download, you kept having to go backwards and forward.

So does this 'web only' change mean you can no longer download episodes to watch at your leisure? Annoying if so as my connection is very flakey with regards to streaming video.

Go for it, it's excellent :D

I have watched the first half of the first episode, it is very enjoyable :) - I have always heard people talking about it, which caught my interest and it does seem really funny! :p

Woop, thanks for this thread for reminding me!

Still have yet to give it a try, watched something not long ago just before the change (think they had both versions going for a while) but used the "old style" as i couldn't be bothered faffing :p
