I hate hot food

After a while of eating it you will find that nothing is served hot enough to make you sweat or anything like that.

My dad made a dish for me and it was somewhat hot. I found myself just getting flustered and aggressive the more I ate it. I mean there was almost this sense of claustrophobia and I'm not claustrophobic! Eventually I just got up and left it felt like a chore eating.

You guys must have tongues of steel.

it's not that I hate hot food, I just can't stick it. I can't even finish a whole packet of Hot and Spicy Monster Munch :( Cannot eat curry or anything like that.

That is possibly even worse than my dad, he noticed the spice on monster munch too :p

like spicy food, but only at home. anything remotely spicy and my head starts to sweat, and i look like i am stood under a shower. not great in a restaurant!

Not everybodys tastes are the same! Remember you're unique... Just like everybody else

p.s You are missing out on such culinary delights as Lemongrass Soup!

I'm like you OP, I really can't stand hot food at all. I do love curry but all the "safe" dishes.

There is a certain part of the population who have extra sensitive taste buds so things like hot food absolutley destroy their mouth, I don't know if I'm like them but I think its more that I've never really had much of it and therefore I'm not desensitised to it.

I have to enjoy food to eat, or I'm really not arsed; and so the cycle of never eating hot food is in place. Some of my friends love it and order faal's++ at curry houses and use ridiculous "sauces" on their food.

Recently at one of my friends birthdays, we went to an awesome steak house near to where I live, he had the following:

To be fair it was 1.3kg of blue sirloin, but towards the end he was getting full and decided to add some of his birthday present to make it more interesting at the end:

I think thats the stuff at least, looks very like the bottle he had; it contains warnings about washing your hands after eating and to avoid touching "sensitive" areas just in case. I think it's over 1,000,000 scovills and contains Naga Jolokia Pepper

I honestly don't know what draws people to this kind of thing. The mind boggles it really does!

Doest anyone else hate hot food? My interest was sparked from the Chilli growing thread. I just don't see the joy. My dad loves really hot food and any time we go to a restaurant he orders the spiciest hot thing on the menu. Usually a vindaloo or something.

I don't get it. How come your mouth doesn't burn and mine does. I'm one of the only people I know who detests hot food. I love Mexican and Indian food. Just not the hot dishes. If you like hot food. Why?

I understand trying to articulate why you like anything is difficult but do try, I might get the jist.

I'm with you dude!!!!

Can't stand the stuff myself, although ironically I can quite easily chomp on a pepper corn or eat horseradish straight from the jar.

But anything with chilli's or curry power, nope, just makes my tongue go all funny, pins and needles and can't taste owt for hours after.

I love it. It doesn't really burn me too much and amplifies the flavours for me. I like the endorphines it releases too. It's a nice feeling.

i like spicy food, that have a kick but a well balanced flavour, unlike my fiancée who likes to blast her taste buds with ridiculous amounts of chilli.. that i feel just overpowers the dish.

I used to find peperoni too spicy. I also didn't drink beer.

I then decided to man up and force myself to eat/drink the aforesaid substances. I now fully appreciate hot foot and the joys of real ale. Best life-changing decision ever :p

If you eat hot food for long enough you gradually build up a tolerance. Not so long ago a vindaloo would have had me in agony with tears streaming down my face whereas now it's a very pleasant kick.

Only problem with vindaloo is that it tastes (and looks) like poopoo. Extra spicy madras all the way i'm afraid ol' scuz :)

Theres a borderline with things like this. I find spicy food VERY tasty, but not too spicy. I find food just becomes a chore if it's laiden with every chilli under the sun and it doesnt really do anything for me as I personally can't enjoy the food if it feels like my taste buds are being melted down.
Something with a nice kick is much more preferable, rather than being sat in front of a vindaloo sweating your **** off, runny nose flowing and a mouth like the gates of hell.

personally I can't take anything more than medium/hot, my gf can demolish the hottest curry in any curry house we go to :p

she looks all innocent, so they always warn her etc, even hurts to kiss her after :o

Yeah, it's far from the tastiest, I was just using it as an example.
I'm more of a chilli man though :)
