What ever happened to..

The problem is that nobody seems to want to take on the mantle of organising meets. We've had the odd person try but they don't follow the golden rules.

Most threads I've seen start off by suggesting a meet somewhere but with no thought or ideas behind them. They'll suggest rough places and possible dates and in the end it all fizzles out with nothing happening.

The way to do it is to decide when and where and what's happening, and then post that. The date/place is not open for discussion although the plan of what to do may well be.

But nobody can be arsed any more. It's a shame, there have been some fantastic meets and I've made many real friends through them over the years and I still see them regularly.
Feek is correct. Nobody takes things by the balls and sets a date, too much fannying around. Set a date, ask who can come, get the ball rolling - job done.

I have known Feek now for what, about 7 years? There are many people here who I've known for similar lengths of time and many of them I am good friends with and still see regularly. I've never been to a meet and had a genuinely crap time, even when I've been tired or under the weather.

I have met you, I bet you cannot remember who I am though :)

You have a cracking stock of flash paper! Of course I can :)

Oh yes, plenty! ;)

If you need something to be burnt down, you know who to call! - Ok I didn't say that! :D

Anyway if there is a OcUK meeting, I will be up for it as long it is something fun, near and worth it. :p

It's really not that much hassle. I arranged a couple of meets back when i was ~17.

Start a thread to gauge interest.
Start another thread with a confirmed time and place.

Easy.
