Bought a 4870x2 and turns out recieved a 4850x2!!?? Help...

he come back with £135... and yes its the 2GB model GDDR3 one, in the blue box.

so refunding me £65 on it, think its worth a punt...
edit:

Thanks for those graphs Timko!
still a good card for the price, though the 4890 does look nice! OC though.

this should tie me over till dx11

135 for this is a very good price for this one and it has more than enough power to run the newest games just fine.
The 4870x2 however wouldn't be such a good offer for 190-200 as you could get em single for about 90quid already so CF would be 180 new from shop.

cheers for your advice guys.
replied to him, and he'll be sending it through.

was going to offer £130 anyway, but it is mint and he said £135 so its fine with me.

I did look at crossfire with two normal 4870 but the performance in a single x2 got it.
even though whole reason I bought my Gigabyte board was for crossfire!

who knows... maybe find another one day!!

think two of these 4850x2 would run on a 850w Corsair PSU? (the new pro blue one)

Yeh the 4850 itself doesn't take much power so you would be fine.
Not bad idea as probably at some point you will be able to get one of those for ~80-90 when the new cards come out.

nice!
if it runs smooth enough and cards do come out, or I see one pop up.
may look into it more!

hopefully all goes well when put new build together and card is ok :)

If it works ok then keep it and forget about it. You got a good card for a good price. Looks to be faster than my GTX260 and I paid £140 for that only a few weeks ago.

It could have turned out a lot worse.

What your paying for it now makes it worth keeping and while yes the original description was wrong he seems to have been keen to try and make you happy if only all sellers were like that so no he doesn't deserve negative feedback imho he defo deserves positive.

yes normally, It might not have gone so smoothly! though it was incorrect, it's still saved me a lot time and money, he's refunded the £65 on it now,
so cost me £135 inc p&p

also he did say why he didn't send it back, and I remember now it was because the company wanted to charge a 25% restocking fee for returning it!

but all is well!
was never going to give him negative feedback anyway after what he did and rectified the mistake.

hopefully overclockers will deliver the rest of my part's today and get to test out the card in a new build... should have been yesterday!! I don't like DDP!

Personally I think you have got a bit of a bargain there! Plus if it plays all your games how you want them then spot on !
