Have you ever had 'flu?

I've had it twice :(

Didn't eat, didn't drink, didn't get out of bed for a week each time, then another week just getting back to normal afterwards...

The first time I didn't know if I was awake or asleep and was having hallucinations, not good...

I had it when I was young. I remember my Mom having to go shopping and she made me go with her because she didn't want to leave me alone. I slept on the cereal shelf in Tesco.

Had it over Christmas. Everyone at work was saying that i didn't have it because i managed to come in the first day i was ill. I didn't feel 100% for 9 days. Only had 3 days that were really bad. Temperature swings, aches and the usual cold symptoms.

And then got back to work and i was told by my colleagues that i only had a cold because i didn't sound "that ill". Brilliant!

never had it or known anyone to have it or been bed ridden for days to be honest, had a couple of nasty colds in the past though.

yep i had it when i was about 10 - was in bed for about a week with a home visit from the doc, was pretty bad experience.

Theres so many high and mighty people on here thinking oh you havent had flu unless you've been in bed for 5 days and you lose an arm. Its ridiculous. Flu effects people in different ways, people have different immune systems, differing strains of flu etc etc. Ive had flu before a few times, I felt crap but wasnt in pain for 5 damn days - dont tell me I dint have flu because I certainly did. Im currently suffering from flu (most likely Swine) First day/day and a half was horrible but after that it isnt so bad. We are all different.
Doesn't sound like you've ever had full blown Flu to me :p You may have had the symptoms of Flu, but I don't know anyone who's ever had the full thing who didn't suffer horribly for a week. Either you've never had it properly, or you're Superman :p

I get seriously weird hallucinations with the flu. Had it twice when I was younger, around 10-11 years old. It's nasty, kept thinking there were people in the room that weren't!

Had it in January.

Went to a flat viewing with my other half with a pretty bad cold that started up that morning. By the 2nd pint in the pub afterwards I started getting hot and cold fits, and subsequently thought this drinking is really really not working in ignoring this little cold. She started to become worried as I looked like I was on deaths door.

Got home and didn't leave my bed pretty much for 2 days. Had horrible hallucinations, half asleep dreaming, but also half awake with them being very real and nothing I could stop. She slept on the spare matress in teh living room, as I was apparently flailing around the bed on teh first night, mumbling, sweating, and hitting her :D:D:D

Stayed at home another 2 more days bringing me to the weekend. Managed to get to teh sofa for the final day and watch nigh on a series of prison break :D

I've had it twice. Caught it on a trip to the student campus at Newcastle uni and had to travel home on a train to Essex in snowy conditions, it was horrific. Could barely leave bed for a week and even had to resort to eating vanilla ice cream to try and rehydrate as everything else was too hard to swallow.

Had it again earlier this year but I wasn't that blocked up this time, just painful chest and throat this time out of the respiratory stuff so that was something at least!

I've had a few bouts of full on flu before the advent of flu jabs. I've never caught it since I started having an annual jab though so that proves a point for me.
Proper flu is horrific. I found the delirium and aches the worst part of flu.

I had it back when I was in primary school. Don't remember much about it apart from aching all over and not wanting to move. I do recall I was weak for some time afterwards and it took a good while to fully recover.

Yeah I had back in 2005, knocked me for 6. The cold sweats were the worst for me, just used wake up absolutely sodden, that included the bed sheets. Oh the hallucinations were fun too, I became convinced one night I was involved in some weird game show where every 30 minutes I had to try sleeping in a different part of the bedroom.

I've had the flu twice (afaik), once when I was a teenager and once a few years back.

When I was a teenager I got quite delirious for one of the days I was ill, kept waking up thinking I'd won an award for being a spaceship designer, so I got out of bed to collect my award and collapsed on the floor (where I slept for about 4 hours!). Horrible thing the flu. What gets my goat is when someone at work looks a bit sniffly, and they say "I've go the flu". No, you DO NOT have the flu, you have a mild cold you utter pap!
