Grr!... Dunno why I watch this so called challenge to Top Gear... The presenters are a complete bunch of retards that clearly were the school punchbags of their time. The presenting they do is crap - I mean tonights show trying to compare a Lamborghini and a 15 year old crappy Nissan as a 'cheap alternative'... I mean really... Where do these numbskulls get off!

Hate 5th gear and it's presenters... They are full of crap!...

The preview of next weeks show made me LOL, they try to copy TG too much
5th gear is in the same category as Gadget show, it's OK to glance at, but it's impossible to actually get into it and watch a full show.

once it was mildly entertaining, then it became the Vicki Butler Henderson show, and then it was hosted from a cafe

pleased to say it's not sullied my tv screen since.

I've watched this season and found it a bit better than previous ones.
It's not Top Gear and there's plenty cringeworthy moments, the occasional decent feature and general hooning around in cars. Could be worse.

it isn't that bad really in most parts, yes, they are trying to copy TG too much now and it is a bit cringeworthy, but some parts are actually watcheable, for instance, tonights ep, the bit about oil was actually quite informative and had a point, as did the last part about reducing the NSL to 50 instead of 60.
Instead of complaining about it, why not just turn over and watch some other repeat on telly. It's still better than most crap on the telly.

(Also, i think this thread would have been better moved to motors instead of this one)

Huh!?! Reducing the NSL to 50 because 5th gear showed that crashing a 15 year old car into a stationary tractor saves lives?!!!.... Does not compute!!... Absolute joke!

Reducing it on some roads though...
That feature did have a point though, and they also threw in the other arguement of "design your roads better".
I would have liked it if we could have seen the same test ran at 60mph but what can you do?
The oil feature was good and showed just how foolish plenty of motorists are. The response of "never" to "when did you last check your oil?" was shocking.
I had never heard or seen what a car would do if ran without oil, was good to see.

I used to despise 5th gear but it IS getting better.
And you have to admit, they are doing the nation a service by trashing old protons every other week.

Some of the presenters used to be on Top Gear, so it's no suprise they're desperate to grab some of the attention.

I just wish Tom Fords sidekick would wash his hair and trim that beard. Tom Ford suits it, his sidekick doesn't. Just winds me up when I see him. I don't mind the show. Beats the crap out of watching bellenders.

I think both 5th Gear and Top Gear have lost it a little (well a great deal in 5th Gears case) over time.

Top Gear tries to be a little too OTT at times and many of their silly Stream Train / Boat / whatever races could be cut say 5 minutes shorter and maybe a decent "affordable" car review slipped in every now and then.

5th Gear (as the OP states) is just a poor mans rip off of Top Gear, on about a 10th of the budget and with complete douchebag's of presenters.

Sadly I still watch them both though. Just can't help myself :(

So you're the one who wrote in last series and got them to review that Fiesta! Did you find it informative enough?:D

It's one thing to cringe every time Tiff does his stoned grandad routine. Watching him sliding some car for 10 minutes for giggles without any relative, solid commentary besides "wow" and "haha" is as much fun as watching program where Nigela Lawson just sits by the table and fills her gob with random food to the tune of some mild techno music. Then there is Jason Plato reduced to the role of gherkin in vodka chaser combo - head bobbing Tiff does some drunken sideways driving, Plato follows behind shouting "you are very good Tiff, you're the best". WTF is that?

It's quite another thing however, when the program starts to tackle serious topics, with approach of Ken Livingstone to Cuban Socialism. The "NSL 50 feature", as a test or journalistic piece was just scandalous. They smashed empty car without as much as chequered tape or g force sticker for a safety measure into tractor, at 50 mph, and then bravely claimed "limiting NSL to 50 mph can reduce risk of injury by 50% ". What, how, what, than what?! Where was the 60mph smash for comparison? What exactly was that fast aperture smash of an empty 15 year old Mondeo compared to, to conclude 50% number? I want to know where was that number drafted from. Before the so called "safety experts" start going around delaying my life by further 17% quoting this rubbish test as a mantra, as someone who actually smashed a car on NSL road into the back of other car, I want hard evidence and proof that if by draw of fate I am to smash my car against someone's boot at 60 mph yet again, I will be 50% more likely to be injured or killed then if I do so at 50 mph. This was the point where farce and journalism collided with such notoriety that you would be better to watch naked guy in bunny costume presenting news for factual content than Fifth Gears so called safety tests. Hard number was presented, and I want hard proof. Or I want heads to roll, people to be fired and rubbish programs with rubbish idiots smashing rubbish empty cars for rubbish footage to draw rubbish made up conclusions removed from my tv license sponsored terrestrial television.
Either say "we are going to smash some old Mondeo for lolz" or do it properly. Or, if it was supposed to be serious feature, to the best of their abilities, perhaps contract with Albanian Cable would be more appropriate. Absolutely shameless.

Unlike Top Gear.

Top Gear isnt about the cars anymore its more about 3 childish presenters having a joke about.
Was gonna say exactly the same thing. I watch TG but it's not really a serious show any more... it's about them arsing about in whichever country they want to visit this week driving whatever car they fancy taking for a spin, and Clarkson having the fastest / easiest option.
