Yep, I'm saying EXACTLY that.
Try and put what your saying into a step by step plan:
You turn on console
You grip controller with anticipation
You load game
You look at an advert
[wait, what, 10 seconds max]
You start game
I can pretty much guarantee however that what actually happens for the majority of people is:
They turn on console
They grip controller with anticipation
They load game
They look at an advert
[start 10 seconds....
sip their drink, adjust position, get comfy, check the time, quick look around
10 seconds end]
They start game.
Adverts are part of our every day lives and for the most they go unnoticed. The Metro paper on the train/bus is packed with them, but has other articles to keep you occupied. The adverts on the TV during Trumpton, do the majority of people actually intentionally watch these? Or is their time perhaps spent with a quick pee-break, talk to family, make a cuppa, grab a can, etc, etc.
No matter what way you look at it, it's either a black screen with the words "Loading...", "Stand by...", "Get ready...", "Ooooo nearly done" etc, or some background that you've seen countless times and thought "Jeez, I'm bored with that now" or an advert.
And maybe, just maybe, there's an advert for something that MAY be of interest to you.
