What do you do when you cant sleep?

I would keep trying, if i still can't come 5am, then i get up and stay up for the next day (hopefully I don't have to work).
 
If you are suffering then please see a doctor about it - just to remind people not to provide medical advise if people are insomniacs. :)
 
I find that if I play computer games till way past midnight my mind becomes so overstimulated by the game (and subsequent thoughts about it if playing Empire Total War!) that I can't sleep until I am able to clear my thoughts and relax.

If all else fails a hot bath with Radox wins!
 
just stay awake watching a film, or playing dawn of war 2 owning some noobs (not good for sleep :p)
 
Try to get out of bed without waking my girlfriend, never works as the squeakiest floorboard in the world is right next to my bed. She tells me to come back to bed, I say I'm just going to watch some TV, then I play some games, have a drink of water, go to the loo then back to bed. Usually works.
 
Turn over and adjust head or pillow position every 10 seconds, knowing that if I hit that golden combination I will go out like a light... as of yet I've never found that combination :(
