***** The OFFICIAL ANTI-iPhone Thread *****

I hate the steriotypical iphone user but im about to order the 3GS as i feel it does everything i need to the best and it isnt slow and horrible to use like all the windows based phones ive had.

Yup, mac's are the best cos I hate Microsoft for absolutely no reason.

Maybe I should make an '****official****' thread about my Microsoft hating obsession....

Crikey - the thread is tongue in cheek.

I am sure we can find an official Mac Lovin' thread for you....

I've always been a bit anti iphone (for music I've always gone the Sony Walkman route) but recently with all the apps that are becoming available meaning that even if only 1% are any good then 1% of quite a lot is starting to look good then I'm starting to wonder if I'm coming round to it. Now for the bit that will annoy the fanbois - its reminding me of the time when I was in the OS/2 camp and opposed windows as being a mere GUI and not a proper OS etc etc .... until, at a time I was in the US for 3 years, I went into Fry's and saw row after row of win95 software and gave up the fight ... I still believed OS/2 was superior to win95 in so many ways ... but win95 was basically "good enough" and it had loads of software. I'm now thinking that the iphone has reached the "win95" point ... it probably isn't the best but its "good enough" and there's loads of apps available.

I don't hate it, but I hate the fact it creates fanboys, 2 of my mates were annoyed because I chose an ''inferior'' N97 over the iphone 3gs .

They're saying the touchscreen is the best on the iphone and the OS too...

Yeah the fan boys on both sides are annoying. I work in a store and the anti pc brigade is funny, but then so is the anti mac brigade :D Arguing over computers seems rather humorous to me :) Frankly I'm content to use both PC and Mac and get the best of both worlds :)

Agreed.
Its not the "inanimate objects" themselves, its the people who use the damn things (admitedly this doesnt go for all of them) as Apple products seem to have a unique ability to both reduce intelligence and transform users into irritating smug ********.
Again, doesnt apply to all, but a fairly high percentage from what I've experinenced.
As for the iPhone itself.. its ok - has some nice touches but not being able to multitask is a complete show stopper for me. Will stick with my e71 for now.

Yeah I agree to an extent, the people and the advertising is what I disagree with most, it's a good phone, but it has its issues and problems, and is on a par with other phones released. The problem is there are way to many people who believe it is far ahead of anything else, and insist on spouting crap wherever they go!

Hate the posers with them, same with all the ipods, grrrr

Cool. I'm a poser because I own an iPod? :p

Find me a similar 160gb mp3 player, that doesn't look and feel like a brick, and I would happily buy it.*

*If the music quality isn't as poor as the old iRiver players.

Though I do find this irrational hate quite funny. Especially over such small things.

Actually I'll add one more thing into this thread on the subject of the owners. Why, oh why do they insist on stating that they are on their iPhone when they mention browsing the web on their phone? Every other phone owner just states they are browsing on their phone (if at all, generally not after about 3 days as the novelty wore off :p), but iPhone users have to point out they have an iPhone, and they are browsing the web with it.

A couple of times I have made a point of stating that i'm browsing using my Touch HD, for no other reason than it;s apparently "cool" to state the phone you are using. :p

I think the main problem is Mac culture and not necessarily the iphone as such. I work with people who have no need for Mac's yet insist they have and use them, at the cost of the company. These individuals are fairly high up and some make it so far to be a condition of employment!

Of course they must have a Mac screen keyboard and mouse to go with it or it just wouldn't do. I should add that they ALL have VMware fusion on their Mac's so they can run Windows as well.

We have a high percentage of iphone users in our company (I'd say knocking on about 70%) and I can see why. I am a staunch Apple culture hater, but I like the iphone.

It doesn't irritate me like every other phone i've had does, it works, it cost me £150, i'm on an rolling monthly O2 simplicity tarriff (600 minutes, 1200 texts, Free web for £20/m).

I used cut and paste for the first time yesterday, and I didn't really need to. I can understand people getting bent out of shape about it not having these basic features but it hasn't really affected me. I get about 4 MMS's a year. I work in an office in IT so battery life doesn't bother me. For me it always lasts for a day but I could always plug it in at work if I wanted.

If I hadn't got it, i'd probably have an Android phone of some sort. But as I picked one up for cheap, am using it on the cheap with no money rinsing or long tied in contract, it's been good for me.

I could jack it in and get an android phone at any time, but I have no plans to do so at this stage.

So to condense this thread into a single post, it's not the iPhone that is the problem (it's an ok/good phone, but not the be all and end all), it's the users (generally)... :p

Just a question on the copy and paste thing, does that include moving files around on your phone, or is that classed as something different? I don't really use copy and paste much other than moving files around.

Gotta sign up for this! I DESPISE the blinkered self indulged view of everyone I know with them, like that the world begins and ends with iPhones...

Fact is, they're actually quite compromised and pretty ******* expensive!

moving files around on an iphone? now that's a novel idea ;)

from what I understand its only for text(from web/document/etc) and pictures/photos(from the web/your phone into emails/documents in apps that support images etc).

I'mn not sure which I dislike more, the smug self-righteousness of Apple fanboys, or the ignorant and irrational hatred of the Apple Haters...
