Have you ever had 'flu?

It could be pretty soon when i get the flu for the first time....my mate/neighbour has swine flu, he looks and sounds like crap, i had to get his tamiflu for him today, doh :(

I've had flu-like symptoms before, but only lasted for a couple of days.

I hope that when I get swine flu, it's not so bad that I can't veg out infront of my PC, that would really annoy me.

No need to get personal :)

If you suggest that having Flu isn't as bad for some people- and to be fair you did suggest that- you will encounter this scepticism.

We have a thread full of people here who are saying that when they had Flu they could barely move. This is no exaggeration. I think someone earlier said that he wished for death. If the symptoms experienced were to be persistent then +1 tbh  Yes really.

Influenza was worse for me than quite severe food poisoning. I wouldn't wish it on anyone :(

Whats personal?

No I suggested that Flu effects people in different ways, some worse than others, sure. But saying you wish for death when on flu is a hilarious statement, come on.:p

Twice :( Once when I was about 13. Was in bed for a week off school, then had another week off just to make sure. The nightmares were horrific! The weakness the first time was the worst for me, then when i was about 20 I had it again. knocked me out for another 2 weeks. I actually fainted in the most manly way when brushing my teeth one morning. My dad had to scoop me up and plonk me into bed lol. I am not looking forward to gettign swine flu however they seem to think that the majority of people will get it dont they?

I haven't had the flu, but do you get the squits when you have flu?

I have squits atm and i had it....its like pouring water out my bum :(

Yep - I caught it working out in Karachi. Wow it was a bad strain of flu - definitely the 'real' thing. I got home and could hardly get out of bed for 3 weeks. It took so much out of me that the flu was quickly following by tonscilitis ..... very bad news!! About 15 years ago now - but I'll never forget it.

Had it for a week when I was a kid, couldn't believe how bad it was. Has since annoyed me when people tell me they've had flu when they've had a cold. When ever I am off work for colds I list symptoms as "flu like" symptoms, and feel guilty for even doing that. It was the worst.

Memories have been rehashed now from earlier posters of the amount of sweat produced during the flu :(

Trust me mate, im as devoted to my pc as man to the next. When i got belted with the full on a couple of years ago, last thing i could do was dump in my chair on the pc.

Honestly you'll be so knacked, in bed and flat out looking at a tv screen at best.

Yes, definitely. Although probably only a couple of times in the past 15 years.

My wife has been forced to have a couple of days off work due to fears of swine flu, even though she knows it's only a cold.

Regarding what to do when you have flu, I remember I used to listen to audio books (on cassette, it was that long ago lol)

I've had flu twice, once about 8 years old, and once at 12 years old.

I get common colds a lot though, at least 4 or 5 times a year, with mild symptoms lasting less than 48 hours.

I had it early last year, when i had it i was off work for two weeks and must have lost like a stone. It got so bad my poo was green, does anyone know why that happens?
