what to kill! crab or lobster

Right lads,

I'm delving into more serious cookery! I'm going to buy on of these beasts and ATTEMPT to cook it.

has anyone had much experience with them? Which contains the most meat?

For some reason I feel guilty about sticking it in boiling water. Maybe I should shoot it first!

Crab is far easier, you can incapacitate them by bashing them on top of your cupboard.

Apparently popping the crab/lobster in the freezer for a while before boiling it is the most humane way to send it off. Not sure how long they need to be in there though.

Go for crab, it's cheaper. You can kill it easily by cutting its head off.

Err no go with lobster mate just make sure you bring the pot to the boil before putting the lobster in.

Pinch of salt and cook for between 5-7minutes

Ignore the myths about the lobster screaming when you put it in boiling water it's only air escaping from the shell.

lobster is far nicer, crab is nice and cheaper. So maybe experiment on crabs first.

Can't you massage a lobster to paralyse it? Maybe lull him into a false sense of security.
