Why do people bother "working out"?

Improved sex life and confidence.

From my single guy's view, a better body gets you a girl with a better body. Also when I wasn't single, I would feel really bad if I let myself go, I wouldn't want my girlfriend to put weight on, so I also wouldn't.

Girls do care, even if they say they don't.

Would you stop loving her if she did put on weight?

I go to the gym because it makes me feel better, both about myself and I feel I have much more energy than I used to. As well as the other reasons you do exercise for like living longer etc.

I actually did when i was about 16/17, i ended up feeling sick if i worked out too hard, actually was sick once after running for too long.

Not pleasant :/ I'll sit on my arse instead :D

I'll openly admit I've done that too but generally thats more down to what you have consumed before you head to the gym. The gym its not for everyone but I like it.

Such a troll thread, you know exactly why people do it, and if you're trying to tell us when you look in the mirror and see you 'beer belly' you're happy with it, I'm calling you a lair.

There's little downside to exercise. More self confidence, be physically more healthy, more attractive to the opposite sex, greater levels of fitness so you can keep going for longer ;)

For me it's all of the above plus the goal making and achieving, driving, testing and bettering myself. I'm addicted to cycling at the minute. I get to see beautiful countryside while I'm at it, and it doesn't cost me a penny either apart from food and occasional bike maintenance.

He has a slight point. Saying you don't like exercise is one thing, and how it doesn't bother you. But saying you seriously cant understand why people do it seems far fetched.
