Am still on old orange firmware,haven't really decided if the new ig2 firmware is worth flashing, so far its been the best phone purchase,no regrets getting the omnia i8910 at all.

If you want a quicker phone and want to record audio in HD video then flashing is a must. Its really easy to do and makes the phone just feel so much better. I wouldnt go back to that orange junk for anything.

I've got Sygic McGuider v 7.71 running on my i8910. It runs fine if I don't ask for a routing - i.e. just following my position on a map, but crashes frequently if I set up a routing - any ideas? would flashing to the new firmware help?

Well that was weird. Rang Orange to see what deals they had on the i8910, and was being convinced to not get that phone because it's not that great and 'when you receive text messages it doesn't show the name of the sender, just the number'.

:confused:

£45 free inc. internet 500meg, but for 18 months. Not sure I want to commit to that to be honest. The only alternative is to get it through a 3rd party vendor, but then again I don't really want to change my number.

Best deals by my reckoning are (all include data deals but didn't pay attention to minutes or texts):

Orange:
Handset free and £47 for 12 months giving TCO of £564.

BuyMobilePhones.co.uk:
Handset £100 and £30 for 18 months giving TCO of £640.

Mobiles.co.uk:
Handset free and 12 months for £40 then another 12 months for £20 (essentialy £30 for 24 months) giving TCO of £720.

Why not, it works for me without a problem.

Another topic:

I have just found the FMRADIOTest.exe File in the ROM (yes, I have just hacked my phone with HelloOX 1.3)

Seems like there is a transmitter in the phone, and you cant hear sounds when the trasmitter works, but I still cant hear it on the radio, there are a lot of settings, so I am not sure if I configured it correctly (just used the default)

edit: it also allows you to listen to FM radio in other frequencies than default, and without a headset!

Yeah, I knew that wasn't right. The guy was a total tool, and basically made me think twice and in the end I just couldn't be bothered to go any further.

It's a shame that there's so many people like this working in the industry. The people in mobile phones shops and on the phone are no better than second hand car dealers and estate agents. Never trust anything they say.

When im trying to update my phone via the pc studio it says "phone software updater does not the support the connected model " anyone else getting this? any solutions??

Where did you get the orange price from Davestar? Looking now and can't quite see a deal that good. I really only want 12 months.

A few people. I assume you still have the Orange firmware on the mob. You have to find an XP machine, debrand your mobile and flash to the italian firmware. You'll then have the option of updating it. There are a few wonderful pages in this thread, I suggest you read through the last half as you'll get answers more quickly

I have the polish firmware on it will this make a difference??

Guys, looking at also trying to save my number but staying on Orange with another contract.

On www.buymobilephones.net it appears I can migrate from a PAYG number. If I were to change my current number to a PAYG, and then order, would that work? Or is there stuff in place to stop me doing that?

If you go to the Orange site, under Pay Monthly Plans go to 'Find a plan' and below it will say

here are our 18, 24 and 36 month plans ( see 12 month plans )

Well I ended up going for the 18 month contract, even though I only wanted 12! Damn my impulsiveness. It’s a redemption contract, off www.mobiles.co.uk, where you get 1200 mins, unlimited texts & 500 megs data for £34.25 / month after cashback (£44 without). It worked out to be the same TCO for 18 months as it did for 12, and I got more mins and unlimited texts. I figure it's better value for money that way, and that's all good to me.

Will arrive tomorrow, but I don’t get home until Friday. It's also slightly cheaper initial rental anyway without the redemption. Quite oddly I could’ve also chosen 500 or 700 texts for the same price, rather than going for unlimited. :confused:

First thing I do when I get the phone – put in a calendar reminder in for claiming the redemptions.
