Recommend me a sim driving game, please

I have GT Legends, it's made by the same guys as GTR Evolution but it's older. I haven't played GTRE so I don't know how it compares, but if you love classic cars such as the Mini Cooper, Mustang and Jag E-Type then it's a blast. The graphics won't be as good but it does still have full cockpit views including hands and feet, so the immersion is still there.

I prefer GTL to evo mainly because of the people who play it, and the character of the cars. I also think the graphics in some ways are better (mostly any differences in graphics will be down to the textures on the track and the track detailing rather than engine differences), because of the dynamic lighting, night racing / evening racing etc. I also have it running with AA / AF forced on full in the drivers to make it look better

The multiplayer GTL lobby isn't working anymore out of the box as of a couple of weeks ago, because the domain expired, it might be a while before it's properly back, but you can still get to the lobby by adding a line to your hosts file in windows. We have a racing club at RaceDepartment on Tuesdays / Thursdays / Saturdays with a good attitude, which could do with a few more drivers right now. see here for more info (including lobby fix which is a sticky in the forum):

edit: my sig is taken from a league race as well in my Austin Healey ;)

I wouldn't buy LFS. If you look at the last news post on the main page it looks like the game has been abandoned by the devs, which is a little off considering they were charging full whack for an in-progress game.

Hopefully when they announce that they will stop developing, they'll make it open source so fans can then add to the game also. This I can't wait for as I think we'll get a lot more real cars.

Funny...the latest test patch is dated 10 July 2009...where did you get your information from?

lol god i'm having a nightmare with this, wish i paid more attention at maths lol - i understand that you meant the 100degrees as from center to lock now :) sorry mate lol

Mortster,

Here is a post I found which is very useful, the example at the top of the post is 720 rotation with 26.5 lock = 13.5:1 ratio. That is the approximate steering ratio of a BMW E46.

I've settled on 540 degrees now in the Logitech Profiler and using the Car Setup page in the Garage have set 18 degrees on steering lock.

Made my lap times slower for awhile but now back into the zone of 1:35-39 per lap on Brands Hatch :)

Another thread discussing the G25 but settings apply to DFP as well -

Steering feels much more natural now, have increased FFB settings to medium as well.

My other settings in the Logitech Profiler are set as this guide below suggests for Live For Speed (which I have downloaded only had a quick blast on it the FFB was great):

Never got into GRID, the handling is unforgiving at best. We tried it for a work LAN party (14 pople plus) but you could tell people got bored so we played TrackMania instead.....much more satisfying

Nice info my lad !

But if you're getting 1:35 laps then i'm not coming back to play lol ;)
