Hi guys, I have recently bought my first house and along with everything else we need a decent AV setup.

After spending hours on AVforums I have decided to buy a Panasonic V10 50 inch plasma and an all in one surround sound sysem (panasonic scbt205) which I have bought today.

The plasma is going to be built into a fake chimney breast which I shall make from 2 x 2 wood and plasterboard. However, before I start ripping fires out etc I need to start planning what wiring I will need and where to wire to. This is where I need your help.

The router is situated in the front room.

I am planning on routing the following cables to the fake chimney breast:

2 x RJ45 (one for TV streaming and one for HTPC (future) )
1 x bannana face plate for surround sound
circa 5 Plug sockets
2 x HDMI leads (one to go upstairs)

Then around the room:

4 x bannana plug sockets for surround speakers
4 x gang RJ45 by router
2 x Spot lights

Is there anything I have missed?

I am thinking for a kit like this for the sound surround:

Cheers

for a 50" plasma you want to be using 3x2" studs minimum m8, ive just rebuilt one of my internal walls to hold my 50" plasma as the original wall only had 2x2" studding which i felt wasnt enough to hold the weight.

you might get the banana plates at a better price if you buy seperate, im sure i seen some on the bay for around £3 each.

The 2 x 2 studding will only be for effect though and only hold the plaster board. The plasma is going to held to an external wall on a bracket :)

in that case it should be a breeze :)
im using slot cuts that i make with a router across the studs in order to keep the cable neat 'n' tidy, then ive drilled the roof plate so i can get them upto the 2nd level of the house.

my sat cables and ariel pass up through conduit into the loft, and my RJ45 cables feed directly to my router

Why would you banaplug sockets?

I've seen people take wires out from the call and connect straight into a speaker.

If you are going to do it, do it properly;)

Nice one, but why on earth go for a crappy panasonic surround system. I would put it in the same league as the logitech z5500 surround sound speakers.

Easyrider is your main man for building a cinema :D

Chances are it came free/discounted with the tv? AIO home cinemas do generally suck, but I thought it would be at least as good as the Z5500's.
