My new pen

I use the Fisher NASA space pen for work use , ink cartridge has last over 6 months now and its been in -15c and back into 20-27c 5 days a week :P £15 quid

Am I missing something here, or is it nothing more than a ****ing pen? I bet it does the exact same thing as my trusty 99p Gel Rollerball does, i.e. make lines on paper!

who actually writes in this day and age?

Slightly mystified by this attitude, seems to be the most common one in the thread.

We post watch threads and nobody bats and eyelid. I like rsatd don't wear a watch, haven't for years because I have my phone, yet we don't see anywhere near as many people spamming the backside out of "look at my new watch" threads.

Guy has a nice pen, wanted folk to see it - I don't really see the problem. Each to their own, whether its spending their money on pens, watches, mobiles, cars etc we all think someone else is wasting money, but we don't all post about it.

Why spend 5k on a watch when you can buy a watch for 5 pounds?
Why spend 25k on a car when you can get half decent car for 2.5k?
Why spend 600k on a house when a 250k house will do?

You get some idiots on here spending a fortune on clothes with labels attached. If he enjoys pens, he enjoys pens. Each to their own.

Why not? It has a five year warranty and regular servicing after that means it can be used every day without fear of anything going wrong. It would defeat the point of having it if I didn't.

Regular Servicing ive never laughed so hard in my life

Another vote for the bic. For my uni exams I tried writing with a £30 Lamy, it failed hard at writing fast so I went for the 10p Biro and never looked back. I can see the attraction with nice pens though, maybe not £125, but I don't see anything wrong with a Lamy, especially if it's to match the suit and watch.

I'm struggling to see why this is so funny. If you have something that lasts a long time you take care of it no? You service a car or a watch to keep it running in good condition. At the other end of the scale, you clean football boots and replace studs when they wear out? You re-grip golf clubs to keep them going. If you wear designer clothes you dry clean them and carry out repairs or perhaps take them in if you change shape/size. None of that is so different to replacing a spring in a pen every five years to keep it going, which is what the "servicing" amounts to pretty much.

I think what amazes me is that phrases like "regular servicing" on a watch lots of stuff an go wrong, same with a car, but its... well... a pen.

Perhaps I am wrong to feel like that, but I just think its a pen... still, if the OP is happy with it then what does it matter :) If we didn't all have different tastes, the world would be a very boring place.

But them springs can stop being springy y'know! And they might need refilling!

God, I don't know what I'd do without pen insurance. Buy my own springs and refills? Hmph, no chance.

I really don't see why you lot have such a problem with people owning something well made and/or expensive.

Nobody was bitching and moaning when Spie bought a 599 - which, by the way is a far worse purchase. The second he bought it he lost about £20,000 of the value.

Lmao.... £125 for a pen.... you've being mugged.

LMAO £150 for a graphics card that'll be outdated in 3 months. The same logic can apply to anything.

Basically, I have the cash to buy something which although in reality is simply a functional device,

Like cars, houses, watches, shoes, computers and so on. There's nothing wrong with wanting to own something nice and if he uses it a lot at work then where exactly is the problem?

Maybe because it's a pen? It is an expensive pen, a VERY expensive pen, you can get pens from wilko that are just as easy to use and efficient as that thing that are 100x cheaper.

You can also get pens that are 100x more expensive, in the grand scheme of things it didn't cost that much. How many pens will you buy over 20 years? We get through loads in this house... would probably end up costing the same or more in pens that stop working, get broken, lost etc.

=/

Bic Pen = 5p
Expensive Pen = £125

£125 / 0.05
= 2500 Bic Pens

Plastic ring = 20p

Gold ring = £200

I fail to see your point here, he was comparing it to jewellery.
