Samsung i7500 (Android)

I think HTC's Android phones are coming later this year as well, although i think most of their phones will be running WiMo 6.5

It would appear O2 in the UK have this phone as it is in their July buyer's guide, no price details but one of the staff in the shop told me it was due to be available week commencing 20 July 2009. It's called the Samsung Galaxy i7500 in the guide.

This or the Hero? A difficult choice for many I would imagine!

Hero
- Better GUI (Although possibly will be hacked to work on the Galaxy)
- Better looking (although subjective)
- Potentially better support (xda developers forum?)
- Out sooner..

Galaxy
- Better camera with flash (most likely as Samsung cameras are great and HTC's are generally rubbish)
- 8Gb inbuilt memory (Big factor for installing software as the OS doesnt allow you to install to a memory card)
- AMOLED Screen (Brighter, lower power consumption)
- Bigger battery
- D pad (Small plus for me - I am thinking of games)

------

Somone apparently received an email from o2 - the Galaxy will be released 27th July :)

Screen sure does look good. Don't like the overall design and never really liked Samsung phones after my terrible U600 but this phone really has promise and I would own it.
Still not confirmed as an O2 exclusive I don't think but it may well end up as such. I'm really looking for something that Vodafone offer so I can stay on £25 a month and get a free top-end phone.
Have heard nothing about Voda getting something nice after the Magic

Vodafone have no good phone on the horizon, real shame, if they cant get a decent phone then they will seriously fall behind.

I got phoned by vodafone today as my contract has finished. They asked if I wanted to upgrade, I said what to ?

They asked if I had anything in mind, I said:

Samsung Omnia HD, HTC Hero, Touch Diamond 2

Vodafone desperately need some better phones.

Yay, I need an upgrade from my P1i and this the first Samsung I truly like the look of(I mean Android, not the actual looks!). Plus it's on O2 so an easy switch.

I have to say I'm really starting to buy into this Android OS after using WM on my omnia, looking at this samsung it seems pretty nice not to mention this phone will be running an up to date OS on it.

Very tempted indeed.

I would love to know what other upcoming Android phones are coming out this year. Are Samsung going to be releasing anymore Android phones?

Well I done a google shopping search and it seems to be about £500 on various retailers.

Surely these would be imports from Europe though, as there aren't any UK devices out yet?

I haven't seen any UK figures, but given Amazon are selling the Hero for £429 (devicewire.com for £400 though) it's quite possible that the Galaxy will be more expensive given it's improved spec over the HTC model - i.e. built in memory etc.

Its not been released so retailers put some ludicrous prices up. You need to wait for it to be released to get an accurate price.

edit:
Ive just had a look and seen prices from £368-£600 online..
