I think Wenger will need to spend something soon, or maybe he feels likes of Wilshere and Ramsey are ready. Nasri will be loss tho.

Yeh, its effectively £7m. Think he'll be a very good signing for you. Guaranteed to notch 10/15 goals. Johnson might be a nice foil aswell running into the channels behind.

Nevland is still probably our best 'striker' technically, by a long shot. But yeah, be nice to have someone big to aim for, would hate to defend Hangeland and Crouch in corners!

no it doesn't, it very very clearly shows the guy in a corner, being elbowed by his mate who puts his arms up to stop the guy hitting him, then gerrard pounding into him. Utter nonsense that the other guy threw first, the elbow was from Gerrards best friend, Gerrard is claiming it was self defence that he was protecting his friend, considering its 3 seconds from the guy getting elbowed to Gerrard throwing multiple punches, with no punches thrown from the other guy, the other guy surrounded by Gerrards friends, self defence is a moronic defence.

Is it remotely surprising that ALL his friends plead guilty, even the 3 who got involved AFTER Gerrard, no because they know they'll be found guilty. It even rather looks from the video that the guy right after being elbowed is hunched over, maybe pulled down by his friend as Gerrard is certainly punching low at someone bent over. I'd like to know how someone bent over, is managing to seem a dangerous threat and throwing punches.

Gerrard should frankly get time for it, you can't batter someone like that for no reason. If he pleads guilty though like his friends he'd have to get convicted though, while going not guilty he has a chance that they'll find him not guilty because they don't want to see him in jail. From that video, seems an utter joke if he gets off. Then again, footballers get away with loads of crap.

Ramsey is most certainly ready for games, frankly he looked as good today as he did last preseason. Why Wilshire/Ramsey didn't get more games throughout the season I don't know. Welbeck got a game here and there all the way through, and frankly he's far less ready than Wilshire/Ramsey.

Few appearances early season, couple towards the end and very little inbetween, same goes for Vela. Traore and Senderos played today, Traore still doesn't look good enough and he's not exactly improving. Senderos looked far stronger defensively and at attacking corners than Djourou. They are both fairly slow but Senderos is miles bigger, stronger, better in the air and just all around better.

But Wenger's interview after suggested his future is open and he has offers, sounds like its just a matter of time before he signs for someone. Rumours of Villa in for Senderos today, think he'll turn into a very solid defender when given first team games. Hell it was years ago he was part of our champs league defensive record gaining side.

We don't know what he's doing because the view is blocked. To say it's clear is total BS. Doesn't look good but it's far from the conclusive evidence some people would have you believe.

Edit: Don't know why the video has been released either. The media are just going to jump on him and it'll end up being trial by media.

I am hoping that Senderos doesnt go. I know hes made some mistakes but I think he can turn it around. I hope he stays another season as cover, god knows with the injuries we suffer we will need him in the next coming months.

It will be nice to start the season with actual players who play in that position as cover instead of makeshift ones.

Looking forward to the emirates cup to see what are real hopes are this year. Wasnt he played in a DM position for the friendly?

That would be interesting if he took up that role.

To quote the old adage 'beyond reasonable doubt', I don't think you're demonstrating any here mate. While yes, you are right that we can't prove with absolute certainty that Gerrard didn't have something amounting to an epileptic fit in front of the guy without touching him, I don't think either you can deny the probability that Stevie G did just lay into a relatively defenceless guy with his merry Scouse gang, simple as.

I do think this belongs in the 'Gerrard' thread provided though.

Not sure if I missunderstood, Senderos in the DM role for the friendly? I didn't think so thought djourou and Verm were off and Toure/Senderos on with Denilson and Song in the middle. I was working out during the second half so not paying massive attention. Gah, I can't think, too tired at the moment and way to many subs in that game, including people who went off, and came back on again :p

Personally, if we let one defender go I'd prefer it to be Djourou than Senderos, but by the same standard, Senderos is better so expects more games than Djourou. Theres really two things I can say for certain after two friendlies, Ramsey looked fantastic, bright, making chip passes, a great one two with Bendtner, his range of play was just superb, best on the pitch. The other is that Silvestre after a poor season with one decent game really all season long, is even worse this season than last already. If we don't ship out Traore again on loan or permanently, then why on earth are we still paying Silvestre, Clichy, Gibbs, Traore are all miles better than him, can't see why we need him at all.

Of our defenders, if Wenger wants to get rid of one or two for a smaller/cheaper squad then how is Silvestre not top of the list.
