Why are people selling their Samsung 64GB 2.5" SATA-II MLC Solid State Hard Drives?

you know i noticed the same thing in the MM....it must be all the guys who wanted the technology then and now and have since gone for an OCZ Agility or something for half the price they paid and double the capacity. A trend which will hopefully continue! :D

which ones?

well, intel's new SSD's that are out on the 21st for starters. very top thread in this forum at the time of writing this:)

I wish.. but bear in mind those drives were mostly all bought 5 months ago for c.£110. £55 for 128gb agility would be nice :D

Just so you know, that was yesterday :p

They don't count...Not interested in 250 quid SSD drives:o

Read the thread :p then you can take £70 off your price estimate.

Well, I wont be selling my SSD's for some time. When I do upgrade however, I plan to put one of them in a mini silent HTPC and the other in my Xbox 360 to speed things up :)

Because the original drives that OCUK advertised as the "PB22-J" drives, were actually the slower 90MB/s ones, as I found out :(

It's still faster than a HDD, but I still feel quite ripped. If I'd known, I'd have bought a 30GB Vertex and RAIDed another later (seeing as though I've only used 34GB of this one anyway).

I had two in RAID0 which was great, too quick almost so sold one but found I missed the speed after all, so decided to grab one of the newer drives and sell the existing one whilst it was still worth something :)

Arent these the 90/70mb version and thus pointless other than in laptops. As a normal HDD is faster and a 100x cheaper.

Where have you read that these drives are slower than normal HDD? I read two reviews which stated the samsung 90/70 drivers were faster than any mechanical HDD, including velocoraptors.

I just bought a second hand sammy 64gb ssd off of Duke for £70. I'm well happy, faster than any HDD I have ever had and will be really snappy in windows because of 0.1ms access times and other stuff :)

I am not willing to pay £150-£300 for a SSD, the sammy gets me better performance compared to my mech HDD and a third the cost of some SSD.

Best bang for buck SSD I think.

Same way as a normal HDD, surely? or is there something special about 360s I don't know about?

yes - the hdd's are locked to the console and visa versa. there are only as few hard drives that you can use with the 360, and thats only after a bit of firmware jiggery pokery from what i remember.
