Gaming pc - £800 what can ya do for me?

hahaha, did read some where that some one chopped off the extra pin of an Am2 chip and put it in the am3 socket, and it didnt work, suprisingly. It was a hardware site , not a normal person thou!
 
Hes coming round tomorrow so i guess when he comes to me to boast he has 8 cores i can gun him down in my almighty wisdom and publicly shame him when i discover what pc he has bought.

Well let us know how this goes... it would be hilarious if he actually did have the worlds only eight core computer (not counting two quads on one board... hang on a minute :eek: ).

Why don't people use the 6 core Opteron? Sure, it's designed for servers but that just means that it's designed to deal with a heavy load and be running constantly, at low temperatures. Isn't it only like 95W TDP as well... whatever.

Yeah though he doesn't get here till the evening some time. And they don't use them because the motherboards don't support current graphics cards i think as they just use onboard?
