Aluminium was a pretty bad example of American's pronouncing things wrongly. The original argument should have been made on something like Herbs or Oregano![]()
Actually they pronounce it correctly.
It is us who are wrong as the brits wanted it to be more "classical" sounding.

I personally say 'eye-dee', not 'id'.
