But the everyday dress in Italy it isn't how you would dress to go to those places, or it certainly wasn't when I was there. They have signs up asking people to dress modestly and advise what is appropriate. Now a certain percentage either dress that way knowing they are going to these places or (which was more commonly the case) to put on a wrap/scarf while they were in there. Of course there were those who thought that being respectful wasn't important and just went in there with their everyday clothes on.We are NOT a Muslim country, in the Vatican it is the "norm" to dress modestly, in the UK it is not the "norm" to wear a head scarf.
