Police new head scarfs

I can't see any problem with this. Also in Sikh temples, you have to cover your head and take your shoes off when entering the main room where the prayer takes place. This is merely a sign of respect.

Saying that the police should be able to walk into a mosque/temple and not show a simple sign of respect as a gesture, even though they don't follow the faith themselves, is quite ridiculous.

It's daft things like this which have made the BNP go on the rise. Why should policewomen have to wear a headscarf? There is no religious imperative for it. Just some imams trying to be awkward.

So you feel a member of the police force, Women of the police force should wear head covers that Muslim men subjugate their women to. I'm pretty sure the UK tries it's hardest to give men and women equal rights. Why is it men aren't made to wear these head coverings under Muslim law when inside a religious place? It's because women are still seen as being worth less than men.

I personally, think it's a law that's been put in place to stop 1 Muslim guys wife being eyed up by other men. But hey, we'll put a religous reasoning on it so it's not as obvious :p

Isn't it a tiny cap that covers the back of the skull? I used to work in a school that was like 80% Muslim kids\teachers, And they were worn most the time by the guys. But they are hardly the same thing as having to cover your femininity up. Are women allowed to wear the same tiny caps?

You really havent got a single clue as to what your talking about do you??...your about as worse as the extremists themselves who spout off their nonsense;).

Funnily enough if you had half a brain and decided to actually do some reading, you would see that a muslim woman has as many rights as a muslim man...in fact they are equal..now its not the fault of islam if men beat their wives and dominate them to the extent where they are second class citizens..a lot of the crap thats spouted off in the media is down to culture...not RELIGION but CULTURE;).

No they arent...they are to cover their heads completely...sorry thats just the way it is and the reason for that being is that in islam a womans beauty comes from her hair...i dont see it that way myself personally. But thats the way it is. A mans hair is hardly beautiful...so we are not required by islam to cover our heads.

Heres an example...my mum is a very religious devout muslim...but she doesnt cover her hair unless shes praying or reading the Quran...but she will cover her hair when another man enters my house ie be it her brother or my dad...although they are divorced now.

You've backed up most of what i said, but said its down to culture not religion? Which as far as I'm aware, most of the culture has stemmed from the religion.

To be honest, I don't know enough about the specifics, to give real argument/debate, But from an outsider looking in. Making women in the police force wear head scarves, is never going to look good.
