I'm just wondering what's the best Drum set out there without spending £250 on Ions (which I would love to do).

I own a set of GHWT drums and actually think they are far better (apart from one thing) than the RB set.

They take a LOT of hammer, have lasted through drunken nights with friends to even the dog thinking it can have a go on the cymbals, and of course work on both GH and RB games.

The only downside I found was the kick pedal is a bit crap in how it's positioned. The RB kick pedal is attached to the drums themselves but the GH one is free standing at the end of a cable (which can be unplugged).

I find that after about 10-15mins of playing, my foot is moving the pedal further and further away until it gets to the point I'm missing kicks and end up slouched in the chair.

Like I said, it's had a LOT of hammer and lasted pretty good, played on a friends RB set and was kinda worried that I may damage it.

I absolutely bash the crap out of my RB kit, the pedal is crap and the flimsiest part of the whole thing but the drums themselves are made of adamantium or something because mine are still in one piece! :p

Most people do say that the GH drum kit is better, I've never had a go on one myself but would really like to.
 
My Rock Band kit has lasted me well, but it's seen better days to be honest where the rubber is starting to wear after so many house. Just realised today that I've broke my second kick pedal :(

I'm not really a heavy hitter with the kit as well as I can't stand the noise. The offer has just finished on the GHWT kit as well! So I'm going to have to wait a while. Thanks for the input guys!

Just seen the IONs for £188! So tempted :D

Some great tracks in the Spinal Tap selection, can recommend Big Bottom, Sex Farm, Gimme Some Money and Hell Hole, Heavy Duty Is pretty good as well. Most of those are in the film which is very well worth a watch :).

Hiya Guys, I'm trying to justify the price of rock band the beatles to myself - It's £180 for the (far better) drums, bass and mike + game.

Whereas, it's currently £55 for RB1 instruments, then I could get GH aerosmith + controller for £25, and the beatles game for £30 and a have £70 left over (maybe even get another 360)
Are the RB2 style drums really worth that much extra cost, given I'd do the penny mod on the RB1 set?

To me they are, mine are perfect for response and didn't need the penny mod, but they are too noisy. The tap can get on your bits especially when band playing.

I already have the RB1 kit and will be swapping for Beatles kit because the drum noise is irritating and I want the auto calibration.
 
:@ missed the £20 RB1 drums, £35 full set and now it looks like I'll be missing the £5 GH3 controllers :(


Edit: Managed to pick up some GH3 guitars for a fiver each :D
