Police new head scarfs

Anyways wow still going over the same ole points i see...you lot are really an intolerant bunch arent you??.

My greatest fear is that you lot in here are the future of this country...i pray to Allah that none of you ever make it into a position of power...the amount of ignorance and crap in here is astounding.

To be fair it's only a handful of people really that just post and post and post until normal rational people can't be bothered to argue back anymore. Plus never fear, us Type 1 ACORNS ;) are a bit more tolerant.

I pray for the day white people become a minority in this country and find out what its like to feel marginalised and under-represented in society.

No doubt this will happen in the close future with the way britain is heading.!

Totally shocking imo :(

We should put a hold on imigrating, get the contry sorted then think about letting some people in.

So basically the force are being forced to wear these headscarfs so that they can enter mosques in order to do their job?!

This country is just superb sometimes.

300 posts in and people still can't read the original article properly. It doesn't say that they're being forced to wear them.

Tolleance works both ways. Wheres the Islamic tollerance towards Homosexuals?

People who speak out about Islam are labeled Islamophobes, yet most Muslim are homophobes.

When will it end?

Avon and Somerset Police is issuing head coverings to its female officers so they can enter mosques.

Now that quote to me sounds like they have to wear them to enter mosques....apologies if I've misinterpreted it but I still dont believe they should have to wear them, option or not, to establish a feeling of trust between the Police and the Muslim community as they do their job regardless the religion.

Sorry should have said some of you lot...i know not all in here are intolerant...just a select few who cant bother to educate themselves nor can they read the article itself when it quite clearly states that they arent being forced to wear one.

Funnily enough Dirtydog the biggest xenophobe in here hasnt chimed in with his words of wisdom:p.

Ignorant much??...degrading??..dont make me laugh...ill tell you whats degrading to women...the fact that you non muslim women strut around in short skirts, low cut tops..showing all and sundry your goods...a lot of muslims think thats degrading to a woman...

I think the point is that it's up to each individual woman to decide what's degrading or not. No-one tells them they have to wear low tops and short skirts, they are free to do so if that's what they want to wear.

And please spare us the "Good Muslim" routine. I've seen enough posts from you to know that you're not exactly the model of chasteness and piety you're claiming to be ;)

As myself later on in this thread and Skyfall earlier on in this thread both read the article as it appearing to be forced can you not understand that the article is actually pretty terribly written in that sense.

The way it has been written it makes no point as to whether they are forced to or not but there are sections of it that make it sound like it would be forced which I quoted further up.

So believe me it is easy to make a mistake in this case.

There will never be any tolerance towards homosexuals...why you felt the need to bring that up is quite beyond me:confused:...wasnt it many yrs ago that christianity also forbid homosexuality??..in fact they still dont really approve of it but they want to be seen as moving along with the times...fair enough.

Anyways lets not go off topic...as far as im concerned as a muslim i dont care much for homosexuals...god created adam and eve not adam and steve;).

I'm guessing they wanted there to be confusion over it, it's far more of a 'story' if people think they are being forced to wear them.

I reckon if they were being forced to wear them the article would actually say that and the whole tenure of it wouldn't be so positive.

You're right though, we should all just roll over and let the police do their job regardless of relgion. It's not like the force isn't squeeky clean and would benefit from a few nice gestures to encourage peoples respect and co-operation.

PMSL have i ever claimed to be a model of chasteness and piety??...dont think i ever have...if i have then feel free to quote me...but i bet you cant and u never will be;).

You labeled us as "intolerant" I just pointed out your intolerance. But your right way OT.

Naturally, we are not a Muslim country.

However, I will happily take my shoes off entering a Mosque. I respect that it is a place of worship and I understand that it is a place treasured by those who follow that particular religion.

In other words, I consider myself to be polite, something which I hope that we would all like to associate with being British.

+1 I was about say something very similiar

Respect is a two way process. If the Police are willing to make gestures of respect such as this, then the Muslim community could do far worse than to respect other minorities such as homosexuals Spawn. Unfortunately that will never happen though, due to blind religion.

If we are talking about the ethics of Adam and Eve, wouldn't there of been a little bit of incest early on anyways to increase the population. :p

You're completely missing the point. Whether you or someone else Muslim or not, thinks what a woman wears is degrading is simply your opinion. Just like its the female british officer opinion on whether she feels that wearing a submission headcovering is degrading to her (I think it is a very degrading thing to do for someone not of that religion.)

The whole point of this country is individual freedom and rights. Thats what we stand for and thats what makes this country better than most in the world. The problem thats happening here is NOT about race and I'm sick of people trying to put a spin on the situation. The problems start when religion tries its best to edge into those freedoms, rights and laws that this country stands for.

Islam as a religion is very rule driven. It clashes with a lot of these laws and freedoms we have in this country. Non British muslims feel annoyed and threatened when articles like this appear in the news.

The laws, freedoms and constitution of this country must be upheld against everything else, no matter what. Its the basis for everything. Things like religion should come from a purely individual decision and practised within those freedoms that this country uphold. Having our female police force submit to someone elses god (whether they believe it or not) to do a part of their job is absolutely wrong and a giant step-backwards.

It's only one way respect with muslims, otherwise they'll blow you up because you are an infidel.
