Police new head scarfs

Would you have a problem if they were asked to remove their shoes??.

Nitefly hit the nail on the head...im sure the mosque wont have an issue if a female officer says she wont wear one..

I have said again and again. Its the police not the mosque that I have issue with.

If it was a case of the police not making them and it was just a simple choice with some random mosque handing over a scarf as the females came in and then they did not mind when they were turned down, I would not even be posting.

I do not want religion to be part of the police. Simple :)

[..]
I also find it funny how men pretend to care about the supposed oppression of women in Islam whilst fapping to Mega ***** 3: Lesbian Anal Revenge Edition.

If women here were required to perform in porn films, you'd have a point. If women here had fewer legal rights than men, you'd have a much better point. But they aren't and they don't.

Yes because all porn only features females? hmmm that does not make much sense? Where are all those black willys coming from  :)

Ermm from black men?? I didnt say all porn features females only...but having a boob job makes you a bit more popular with porn producers;).

If they don't believe in the faith then this is just a piece of cloth designed to satisfy the do-gooders and annoy the Police workers who are being made to wear them :o

Apart from the word 'females', I agree with this. I'd say 'women' instead of 'females'. I'll explain why if anyone cares.

If you want to get into a career like that then I think you are probably prepared to accept the need for surgery, etc. I'm not sure it's a valid comparison in an argument about body image.

No but it tells those that look up to that model that they need surgery, they're not good enough, blah blah. If you take an attractive women and still get her to have surgery/photoshop her afterwards and than plaster her image all over billboards then you're sending out a pretty damaging message.

Although, I'm just stating the obvious here, I'm not suggesting all women are so gullible nor am I saying I dislike the images of women displayed in magazines.

I'm quite aware of the differences in suggestive adverts and imposed Government legalisation and I don't see why you brought up such an obvious reference.

Also, not all Muslim women are forced to wear the hijab.

If women here were required to perform in porn films, you'd have a point. If women here had fewer legal rights than men, you'd have a much better point. But they aren't and they don't.

And where is it that islam has become a part of the police??..are they asking to pray when they enter the mosque??, are they being asked to read the Quran when they enter the mosque??...all they are asking is that female police officers to wear a head scarf when they enter a mosque...quite simple really and im failing to understand why you and others cannot grasp that simple concept:confused:

I happen to think its a great and fabulous idea and commend the police force for making this decision...it will only help to make the muslim community better work with the police with regards to terrorism...surely thats a good thing isnt it??.

Spawn if you don't mind am i right in thinking the headscarf is because men can't be trusted around beautiful women so it removes "temptation" as it where or is this something I've just picked up in a drunken argument down the pub?

Didn't Hilary Clinton have to wear a headscarf recently when she visited a Mosque in a Muslim country or something? Isn't this just the exact same thing? I.e. showing respect and manners.

"Hi there, do you mind putting on this headscarf in the mosque please?"
"I don't want to wear one thanks"
"Mmm, we would really appreciate it as it respects our religious values"
"Sorry, I don't want to wear it, nor do I have to"
"Ok"

So your saying that the cops need not wear headscarf and a wast of tax payers money?
And the police force wont say a wrod to her?

you said "Mmm, we would really appreciate it as it respects our religious values"
"Sorry, I don't want to wear it, nor do I have to"
"Ok" "

so the women police need not wear them so wast of money.

Yes because:

-Hilary Clinton is a great example to use for the UK...
-Its Hilary Clinton
-Visting FOREIGN COUNTRY, showing the due respect, NOT her own country...

The little culture that britain has is not one of subjugating woman. We have a society that apparently preaches equality (if you ignore the royalty ), yet you say that wearing headscarfs is a showing respect for the culture?

Well the fact that she is of a different nationality is neither here nor there as it shows this is an incident that can occur anywhere regardless of country which is why its annoying when people complain about Britain bending over backwards and how we're so uniquely 'weak'.

Secondly, I don't see how the foreign country part makes a difference because a Mosque in Britain shouldn't be treated any different to a Mosque in, say, Saudi Arabia.

Thirdly, Lol at your subjugating remark. OH NOES A HEADSCARF!!!

Are you sure about that?

If that would be the case why would the Police design the scarfs.

Yeh im pretty sure about that but then each mosque is run differently so thats a bit of a stupid question to ask isnt it??..unless your asking me to go into every mosque in the Uk and ask them.

As i said before and yet you really seem to forget this little part so ill bold it out for you;) it will only help to make the muslim community work better with the police with regards to terrorism and other crimes

Yeh sort of mate...it does remove the temptation that a man might or may feel towards a woman if say her hair wasnt covered...whereas if the hair is covered you dont know what the womans hair is like or looks like.
