HTC Hero, coming July on Orange and T-Mobile, makes me want!

Are we supposed to charge for 3 hours, completely run the battery down then do a couple of longer over night charges, I read somewhere that these batteries have weird personalities :p

Battery needs to be charged and topped up as much as possible.

I find that if I let the battery drain on my Magic and then fully charge the battery life is considerably worse.

I can't seem to log into the android market. I've got a google account set up, but when i go to sign in it comes up with the service may be temporarily unavailable or sim card may not be provisioned for data services. I've phoned up O2 and they say I need to get in touch with carphone warehouse (mobiles.co.uk) to see if they have any ideas. Anybody got any ideas?

Had exactly the same problem. After hours on the phone to Orange and web searching, the only solution to this is a factory reset (located in Security). When it asks you to set up a google account for the first time, do it then. All from experience, unfortunately :/

Phoned up T-mobile regarding the poor signal, they're sending me a new one by 12 tomorrow and if that still has the same issue then I can cancel the contract. Really hope it doesnt have the same problem, I love the phone too much!

Think im going to order one on a 12 month contract should work out around £29 per month with free handset.
If i get bored should be able to sell any pay off line rental without too much issue

Can you tell me / us where this is from and on what network?

Only issue I've noticed so far is a lack of signal in areas I got with my old phone but unsure if its hardware or network. No other complaints yet!

Sorry guys, should have made it a little clearer, using a friends and family code with Orange.
Just so no one accuses me of bull!

It still looks underpowered for me, and Android isn't quite there yet. By Christmas, I hope that there will be some real choice.

I'm glad I cancelled my preorder.

Ok I'm a bit concerned/annoyed. I just looked on my Orange account and it says I have "£5.377" of unbilled data usage.

The bloke on the phone when I signed up told me specifically the 500mb internet package was included, I made him repeat it and I confirmed it back to him about 5 times just to be sure yet it does not seem to be on my plans.

Going to have to ring them tomorrow, I will be so mad if they try and charge me extra for the data. But surely then they have broken their verbal agreement? But I cannot prove that?

If you sign up near the end of the month you won't get the full 500Mb but rather a pro-rata amount, so perhaps you used more data than you should have thinking that you have 500Mb to play with.

For example, when I received my phone on the 29th or whatever it was I only had 66Mb of usage remaining to last me until the end of the month.

Yes I was thinking that but I cannot find anywhere on my account page where it even says I am on the plan. I'm pretty sure they haven't gave the data plan and am a little concerned about it, want to get it sorted now but unfortunately it's a bit late.

My Dolphin 30 is supposed to have the 500Mb plan on it as I'm on a 24 month contract, I better actually check that I'm getting it...

Same here, supposed to have unlimited internet, ordered with mobiles.co.uk like Hunders so don't think I'll have a problem, but a bit paranoid now! :p Don't know account number so can't check online billing.

Only the first 12 months will be £30 mate, the "£10 discount" only lasts as long as the shortest contract available, i.e. 12 months.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong there, dude. Here's a quote from their website ..

The discount lasts for the minimum contract term (12, 18 or 24 months as applicable).

The way I see it is that the discount will last for as long as your minimum contract is, which in my case is 24 months, but after those 24 months it will revert to £40.
