*** Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22" Widescreen Monitor @ £199.97 ***

I hope you have better luck than me, both Dell and Overclockers werent interested, im still stuck with my monitor 2 weeks later despite filling in webnotes and what not.

Dell couldnt find serial number and said without that matching on their system, there is no warranty, let alone a three year one.

Mate, why aren't you kicking up a fuss? OCUK specifically state there's warranty included with the screen - they can't just fob you off. Tell them the troubles you're having with Dell and demand they do something to help you with it.

I am, but what ive been told so far, without the box that has a special number on it, dell cant find the details, im waiting for a call tomorrow from customer services to find out more.

Keep your boxes guys though, its a cracking monitor and im not blaming overclockers, after all i gave my box away and cant find my reciept, so i accept blame, but be careful with your paperwork, as the serial number may not be enough.

Metalface Mark the serial number is on a little pull out tab on the back of the left usb ports. My monitor is making a buzzing and I'm getting it swapped, apparently it's uncommon.

Yeh but Dell couldnt find record of the serial number on their system, so something was needed from the box.

Nice one, thanks for your reply.

I thought that would be the case. Seems like most people are fairly happy with their purchase.

The image quality on the screen is superb, my problem is its just too dark, but i have to admit to getting used to it somewhat, most games have a gamma adjustment, hopefully the replacement will be perfect when i finally get it switched over, as a gaming monitor though, its the best ive had, the resolution is perfect, i dont need stupidly expensive graphics card to run things natively at 1680x1050.

How many usb ports does it have and where are they positioned?

Do you need to connect the monitor with a usb cable in order to make the ports live?

Thanks.

Is this monitor covered under dells premium panel guarantee?

I've been reading that all Ultrasharps should be but it doesn't mention on ocs product page?

I RMA'd my 2209WA via Dell that I bought from OCUK (twice) and the Dell support person I spoke to on the phone required the "order number" that was on a shipping label attached to the box which the monitor arrived in.

It looked like this: 049623591

On the first RMA I was at work and the packaging was at home, so I persevered with the support person until he could be bothered to do some digging and raise an RMA without this order number.

The second time around I made sure I had the number ready when I called, and everything was a lot smoother.

You'd think that the serial number would be enough though???

Loving my 2209WA now, would defnitely buy another, just put my experience down to bad luck, Dell service was overall excellent.

Got mine running yesterday, beautiful monitor but on closer inspection a small section of the screens lower edge seems 'crushed' :( Can't think of another way to describe it..

It's only the size of a finger tip and it's not easy to make out in daylight but at night it becomes apparent somethings up especially when I pull the bezel down slightly. It's all cracked around a small area.

Anyone else heard for something like that happening?

I'll contact Dell tomorrow for a replacement. What's the form, will they arranged a date to pick it up? When will I get my replacement?

What was up with yours?

Ive got used to mine now, im not sure it was actually faulty, or just a different type of screen to my PVA. The colours on the dell look far better, i just have to mess with gamma sometimes in games as its a bit dark.

Here's a thing too.. When I took off the OC invoice underneath it was a Dell label with a work order and serial num etc but it was addressed to a Ms Annika Johnston at Taran Microsystems, Basingstoke...

What's that all about!?

Ring them with all your details ready, tell the initial person you are ringing about a monitor because that's managed by a particular team. Be prepared for a good 15 minute conversation with dell, the people I've spoken to are quite pleasant. They will arrange collection and redelivery for you, I think it's about a week wait but I suppose it depends how busy they are.

Just had an hour long phone call with Dell Support. This guy was insistent that a 2209WA was not a 'premium panel' and hence I would not be entitled to a replacement due to my stuck green pixel. Even had to send him a link to the specs page on the Dell website to convince him! Unbelievable.

Refurb probably.
You're joking? Would oc seriously be selling me a refurb? Would a oc employee like to deny this accusation?

Regarding my replacement. Dell got a new one to me very quickly, though I've yet to have a chance to test it unfortunately.

I don't know what Dells doing about picking the old one up tho. Instead of coming and getting it they dropped a flat packed box off... which is bizarre as it's already packed up in the box it came in. Equally bizarre is the box in tiny.. Any know what's going on here?

To my total amazement a new monitor arrived this morning. Customer Support told me they would call to let me know when it would arrive, and would likely take 10 days. The courier didn't even pick the old one up. Incredible...
