"Chav" encounter

why has no one mentioned the fact that the OP was on a bridge.

should have powerslammed them over the bridge imo. That would have shown em whos boss ...... :p

Seriously though your mate got kicked in the nuts no less and you still offered them advice/money. Strength in Numbers !! you had the upper hand.

Your friend got kicked yet you hung around anyway, and rather than retaliate, gave them £1 and sent a text message for them.

Way to show them how to act civilised and what kind of behaviour is acceptable.

Put the keyboard down...

It's not up to the OP to show them how to be civilised. His priority was to diffuse the situation without his mate being bottled or the chick being molested in some way. If you were in that situation and you put more interest into starting a fight than getting your mates out of there, then you're an a-hole and you don't deserve any ;)

in my humble opinion. of course.

+1

Taking them on involves needless risk for no real reward. Even if by some unlikely event you win with none of you being injured or arrested, do you really think you'd change the thugs? If not, what is taking them on designed to accomplish?

^Exactly. The way I view it is you never really want to get into a fight with somebody that probably has nothing to lose. Which is the case with scum.

Walk on by. Don't stop. Ignore. If they follow / harrass, just keep going. They then either have to get aggresive or they get bored and leave you alone.

This.

From experience I found this was the best way to deal with rude-boys/chavs who wanted to mug you. Normally they want you to stop so to any onlooker it just looks like you are talking.

Jesus no wonder this **** gets away with this because people like you fold over and take it up the bum when ever they ask..

Grow some or walk right past..

Get some street sense mate..

Glad i never really had trouble with chavs. Its normally the drunk (or pretending to be) girls who hurl the abuse while the blokes all look at the floor and tell them to shut up.

Got called Frankenstein the other day. I wondered as i walked by if they even knew who Frankenstein was.

Wasn't Frankenstein the guy who CREATED the monster? :D

lol.

Personally, for all I dislike "chavs" (and I had a severely bad run in with them once), I think they get a very unfair press.

They are labelled in the same manner that black people were once labelled, eg anyone from THAT area is automatically a chav because they wear certain clothes etc.

I have seen people who people would call raging chavs actually be very polite.

Best example was when I was on a bus and this woman could not get her pram on the bus. No one helped her (I was pinned in) except two seriously rough looking guys, complete with tracksuits, music, earrings: the full works.

-_-

I've lost track of wtf is happening.
