NEC 24WMGX3

how did anyone get a 20" monitor replaced with a 24 incher?!
I don't think there's anything out there which is better at the moment...apparently the 2490 has too much input lag...maybe I'll just stick with what I have till LED backlights or OLED are the norm.
But then monitors will probably all be 16:9 ratio :(

Several people on here did and posted the result. Blame NEC superbs warranty. There was a whole thread on it and about 6 people got the 24" WMGX3 as a replacement. Here's the thread:

The reason is that under NEC warranty conditions they have to replace your monitor with one of equal or better quality. Once the had stopped making the 20WGX2's and ran out of stock, they had no choice but to send a 24WMGX3 as a replacement as anything else in NEC's range, even if a bigger screen, would have being viewed as a downgrade since the 20WGX2 was their flagship monitor and top of the range.

So there is fairly good chance you would get a 24WMGX3 as a replacement if your 20WGX2 went wrong now. Now that 24WMGX3 are end of line and unless NEC have kept loads back for warranty replacement, I guess they would send you a NEC 2490WUXi as a replacement now. Not bad getting a £600 monitor as a replacement even if you view it as being worse than your old screen, just sell it and get what you want instead.

Of course when you ring them up they offer to collect yours and repair it or just ship a replacement out. Always select the last option. ;)

It's really hard to understand what you're trying to say in most of them sentences, all I can gather out of all that is that it isn't as good as the acer and not very good for games. I use the 24WMGX3 for quite a few games and I really think it's probably the best monitor I have had and definitely the best 24" monitor you can get.

So glad I bought my nec when I did. Took me a while to decide on which 24" to get. So glad I made the right choice :D:D

Hey guys,

Just taken delivery of one of these lovely monitors today.

However unfortunately it seems to have what I guess you call a stuck pixel - just a little white/yellow dot near bottom right of screen.

Im not sure what NEC's policy is on this - monitor was ordered from Germany and delivered to where Im working in Belgium at the moment.

Any ideas, or will I just have to live with it?

Thanks in advance,
JP.

Sorry to hear that:(

I'm pretty sure the NEC warranty is pan-european so you should be OK

You could try rubbing the stuck pixel area gently....

:)

I also bought one of these in Germany and had it delivered to the UK and when I rang up NEC to ask about warranty, they said it was a European coverage; so NEC (UK) provides the warranty for it...

Thanks for the replies guys. Rang up NEC UK, reply was that one stuck pixel is well within "standard" limits, so no replacement.

Tob be honest its not that bad, only notice when background is black.

It's just a little gutting to know that for this kinda money the product isnt 100% perfect - what other electronic product would you normally buy that you'd accept with "'fault"?

Its a fab monitor anyway.

Cheers,
JP.

I woke up today, switched on my PC to check whether I have morning or afternoon shift.Monitor (24wmgx3) lights up for two seconds and thats it.Shuts down, black, no picture.

I had to go to work so I did not investigate, but if its dead...I am gonna be angry.

But then again, maybe I would get a replacement that actually does not have any dead pixels, and that would be nice.I hope czech company Impromat that handles NEC here will make me happy..
