Well I'm just running the backup program onto 2 x DVD-R's then I can muck about a bit!

Looks like a nice laptop, really want Windows 7 on it though, am I right in saying I can get a free (or very cheap) upgrade when it comes out?

Was planning on throwing a WD 7200rpm Scorpio drive in it too :)

EDIT: Can you update the graphic drivers via the nvidia website? Can't seem to see the 9600GT on there? Or is it via the Acer site only?

Thanks

Those WD Scorpio Blacks are really nice drives. Very quiet, don't run hot like some of the others, I can only hear them over my laptop's fans if I put my head against the chassis, and between 2 of them, Im getting better transfer rates compared to my desktop drive with an average loss of >2ms access time (14.1ms average access time for the RAID setup).

how you finding the laptop ? is it heavy ?

To be honest I haven't had enough time to play as I was at work, it's fairly heavy but as I said I'll only be taking it from upstairs to downstairs and maybe get a carry if I need to take it out anywhere...

Did a CSS FPS test at default settings and got 166fps average which is very good I think...

Just loading Windows 7 on to it as we speak to see how it performs, sure it will be very good after my previous experiences of the OS....

Mouse pad is a bit pants but I always have a mouse while using it so not that much of an issue really..

Anyone notice how warm these get by the mouse pad specificalll the right click button area, mines been on all night doing nothing really and its fairly warm???

Not sure if that is where the hard drive is located?

Hello there, I'm so close to buying one of these...

This wasn't bought from a certain high street store in the UK (online) was it?

Have you had a chance to give it a blast on any games?

I'm teetering on the edge, I'd love to play ARMA 2 on it (although I'm sure it's not capable) but I'm definitately up for some Battlefield 2 beasting

Hi mate

Played CSS for a bit yesterday and it played very well, graphics were default after loading from steam..

I installed COD4 this morning but didn't have time for the patches as I had to come into work.. I have BF2 at home so could load that up but won't be until tomorrow evening as I'm out tonight!?

The primary HDD is just under the mousepad :)

Ah that explains the heat under there, does your suffer the same issue? Although I think I remember you saying you had changed to a WD 7200rpm?

Was it as such with the original drive? If so I'm going to place my order today for the WD

I also wish the resolution was a bit higher as I use a laptop at work all day (Lenovo R61) and the res is 1688 x 1050 so coming home to the larger res feel strange...

Just ordered a WD Black 7200rpm will Acronis my current image across tomorrow night

How much is the diference between Acer Aspire 6530G AMD Turion X2 RM-72 2.10GHz 16.0" Blu-Ray with 3650 and Acer 6930G T7450 4GB 320GB 16" with 9800m GT? Does T7450 is better than RM-72 for the games and domestic use?

to be honest it's probably over kill if that's all you plan to do on it?

None the less it's a great laptop, will have all day Sunday to put it through some gaming tests etc...

Going to have some CSS and COD4 tonight and see how she fairs...

The only thing I'm not happy about is the heat from the hard drive (SSD on order) other than that
for £500 its a smashing laptop

Just noticed I have a dead pixel on this laptop :(

May have to send it back and reorder another I think, wouldn't be so bad on a larger screen but once you know it's there I can't take my eyes off it lol
