The London Underground

Why, compared to sitting in a traffic jam every day. It would be great.

at least on the underground for the most part it is reliable. I would much rather use the tube, than commute in most other citys.

It's the lesser of 2 evils for me really. It's better than sitting in a traffic jam in the same way that being punched in the face is better than being stabbed.

I've nearly passed out twice due to the heat of a packed central line in rush hour. It really needs sorting.

I'll be getting a moped when I have the spare cash, no C charge, free parking, no congestion to worry about and it'll work out cheaper.

Bring a bottle of water?!

People who complain take it totally for granted.

I'm not talking if for granted, I appreciate how well it works. Well if most of it wasn't closed on weekends

There's just a few issues that haven't been sorted and now it's getting miserable for anyone who has to use it.

.
When else are they meant to do repairs?

And even so I've never not been able to use the tube at weekends when I've been down at my brothers. Sometimes it takes longer as you have to use different lines. But it's still functions.

Although the Moscow Metro may look nice, it's a complete dog and can be full of nutters.
I went on it a couple of years ago and the LU is a joy compared to it.
The U-Bahn is excellent in Berlin, as is the underground system in Prague.

The only problem with the LU is the heat in the summer months, apart from that it's ace.

it sucks.

try getting the northern line from Oval at 8 in the morning during the summer.

vespa 125 is the way forward!!!

;)

It's great to see someone say something positive about the Underground. People always moan about it here but I think it's an incredible feat of engineering and I always enjoy travelling on it.

Aye, same here. Granted I don't commute every day on it, but I do travel a couple of times per month to London, and it's almost always fairly enjoyable.

Of course gents don't forget the tit monday or whichever day it falls on to....

that's the best thing about the underground in the summer
the constant klunge!

Er, when it's shut? Midnight(ish) until the first train. It's not long but it goes the same for the bloody First Great Western train route. There's practically never any trains on a Sunday because of "engineering works". Why dont they do them at night for crying out loud?!

And as for the cost of the LU. It is expensive. Sure, the Oyster cap for a days worth travelling is good for tourists, but it's commuters that pay through the nose. I wouldnt say £5.40 to get to work every day (zone 3-1) is good value for money. It's only 7 miles. And the weekly tickets are a con too. No i dont want to bloody schlep it into town 7 days a week, so why dont they bloody offer a 5-day travelcard at a discounted rate!?

Thats about four hours you give them to do to do engineering work. Honestly, do you think that that suggestion was really worth making? Four hours?!!!

They do do maintenance at night. But you can not do anything substantial, due to lack of time.
putting in a new piece of rail for example takes over 4hours by the book.

The fact they've been closing the Jubilee line at the weekends for nearly a year now without any significant improvement to the journey is the part thats most annoying!!

I think it's being renewed. Your unlikely to see any improvement from a relay site. Other than less maintenance and as such less things to go wrong.
