Twitter is a great idea for those that people give a toss about. So for example i occasionally read Stephen Fry's as it's actually quite interesting (no pun intended), especially when he was driving across America, it's also good for hype in gaming or films etc with loads of free giveaways. What bugs me is when a normal, uninteresting person starts to 'tweet' every moment of their life, no Jane Smithe, i don't care what you had for breakfast.

And no, i don't 'tweet', i just occasionally glance at those that do who i find interesting.

You could say that same about any other "community" based site. Just because you're too old/not cool enough to understand something doesn't make it a waste of time.

:)

Oh hey guys I just made a tweet.

Oh yeah look I did it again

OK I'm gonna go eat my lunch now.

I just ate my lunch.

Need a pee.

Teehee, I'm tweeting on the toilet from my phone.

Finished my pee.

Back on the computer.

Just farted.

Might go outside.

Nah.

OK I'm off.

Hey I'm tweeting from outside!

Now I'm in a restaurant! I'm so attached to the internet I can't even wait until I get home to tweet.

Woohoo now I'm outside the restaurant.

My friend billy just got hit by a car.

I'm calling an ambulance soon, just gotta make this tweet.

Ooh he's dieing. Here's a pic.

There we go, he's dead.

Ah, and here's the ambulance.

OK, goin' home.

Home.

Goin' to bed.

In bed now.

Night y'all.

Mornin' y'all...

Yes my opinion too! Unless somebody has something interesting to say the average joe should use facebook and connect with their friends

Twitter is not pointless just 60% (or more lol) of the people posting tweets are!

I use it to follow developers of iPhone apps to get the latest news on updates, follow a few comedians and such along with chatting **** to random people. It's a laugh and the iPhone integration is fantastic.

Just because you and your friends have such boring lives that all you can think of to write is 'I just ate lunch' doesn't mean everyone else is the same or that the service is useless. You get out of twitter what you put in.

True, but there are more boring people than there are amusing people.

You're right, you are pretty boring. I don't think I'd follow you for very long.

Which is exactly the point of twitter - if someone's boring you simply stop following them.

I personally can't ******* stand twitter.
As if facebook/email/msn/irc wasn't enough, I'd then want to subject myself to knowing exactly where everyone I know is, what they've doing (step by step updates (tweets), often in the most boringly emotional or excitable way that they can put it into words), I think not.

My god how arrogant and self inflated must a person be to feel the need to constantly update everyone they know on every move they make. Meh!! /mumble grumble
