*** The Pre-season Thread ***

30 minutes gone and we've lost Carragher to injury and we're 1-0 down. Worst pre season I can remember for a long time and we could be without all 3 centre backs for the start of the season. Wouldn't be so bad if Ayala and San Jose weren't complete and utter dog ****.
 
2-0. Awful defending again. San Jose has cost us 3 or 4 goals in pre season and he seems to be favoured over Kelly.

Edit: And yet more evidence that Johnson can't defend for toffee.

Disaster. Team look completely disjointed which isn't surprising considering they've not had nearly enough time on the pitch together during pre season which is solely down to Rafa. Why he's played the kids so often I don't know because bar one or two none will ever make it in to the first team.

Insua and Johnson look great going forward but they're leaving so much space at the back Madrid are having a field day with our centre backs. San Jose might just be the worst defender I've seen play for us and with all three main defenders injured he could feature against Spurs who will score with him in the team :(
 
Our defense has been awful and Torres looks like he needs to get out of holiday mode and put his footballing head back on.
 
Jonhson is a bit crap going forwards, crap positioning, and a crap defender when he's actually playing in position, good addition so far :p

Ayala and San Jose haven't got a clue how to defend. They're both so static it's unbelievable. When one of Insua or Johnson bomb forward they're expected to move over and cover but they're stuck on the spot in the middle.

Insua has been much better though, Jonhson has made about two good passes up front, not a lot else, not exactly the sort of game changing play that is going to outweigh the fact he's never in position and can't defend.
 
I'd say one great cross personally, I wouldn't class the rest of his attempts as great ;)

He's frustrating me so far.

His pass to Gerrard in the first half was the closest thing he's done that could have turned into something.

Good to see Lucas getting about a bit more though, without the late tackles.

Never heard Anfield so dead though, more atmosphere in a morgue

Every time AM start passing it, more than the needed Liverpool players go to the ball leaving their man wide open, constantly happening.
 
Thats another and final pre-season game lost then if that pony-tailed **** is coming on. Not so much bothered about the result but if the team play like this against Spurs we won't get a result of any kind there
 
Lucas was the stand out player for me along with Insua. Everyone else looked a mile off the pace and Ayala and San Jose are both accidents waiting to happen. If either of those play against Spurs next week we will concede. Beginning to get worried.
