Anyone not like being overtaken?

What really gets my goat are the drivers who will drive up to you and sit on your bumper all the way through a 30/40 limit, then try to overtake you the moment you get back into a 60. They clearly have no idea what speed I'll want to accelerate up to! A couple of times I've let people like this past, only to find that they want to cruise at 45mph in the NSL bit.

i had that the other day, i was in a 30 and had seen this taxi fly up my **** a few moments earlier. I see the NSL sign, drop a cog, go to accelerate (i was out for a hoon) and had to cancel that as this dope flew past me (still 2-300 yards before the NSL). What happened next could only be called stupid as we both flew down this country lane. He probably thought i had the hump he overtook me, but infact he was holding me up :o

Had a bit of road rage last night though, overtook someone doing 40 in a 60, she gives me the full beam treatment, so i slammed brakes on like a plonker and drove at 5mph infront of her before speeding off... What a tool  :(

How so? Speeding isn't the be all and end all of all accidents you know.

No, but needs a bit of discretion and intelligence to work out where it might be safe to do so. I'm guessing you're one of those bikers who's always hooning around town at what appears to be close to 60, overtaking cars on blind corners etc - the type that give bikers a bad name. Just remember you can kill other people too, not just yourself.

I got overtaken by one of them yesterday. It was being driven by a girl so I had no chance.

Ah thats a good game to play when you're bored and see a nice girl - let them overtake you, then overtake them. Lather, rinse, repeat :)

Hmmm, not convinced, anyone who publicly brags that they speed everywhere is more than likely an idiot on the road IMO

Oh easily.

regarding TLGP, does anyone know what the 'law' surrounding nailing your car off a set of lights up to the speed limit? NSL, for example. :D Would you get done for dangerous driving if it was a fairly empty area, or if it was just built up/busy etc?

Just out of interest :)

There is, I believe, an offense of "furious driving" (yes, really), which covers this. They could also get you with a section 59 notice as well. That said, one of the very few cars which has challenged me to a TLGP was a police Astra patrol car...

In Bath, at the top theres a roundabout that at rush hour gets a huge queue in the left lane with people wanting to go straight over. To avoid queueing I just go in the right hand lane and go right round the roundabout, saves so much time - winds them up a treat also :D

I got a rude gesture from a woman the other day, was in Woking going some where I had never been. Ultimately I ended up going the wrong way so had to go right round a mini roundabout. I was indicating right, got to the penultamate exit and this woman just pulled right out in front of me.Despite the fact I was indicating right still, the abuse I got made it seem to be my fault :p

I've pulled the all the way around trick before - normally I'm patient enough to queue but if its a big queue and I'm in a rush its a good trick. Coming off the A38 into Plymouth is a good place to do this, theres always a huge queue turning left.

Am I not right in thinking you're not meant to do a U turn on a mini roundabout? The woman probably assumed you were turning right as everyone in the world always obeys every rule 100% of the time....Never make assumptions when driving is probably the lesson!

I believe they can pull you over for something called 'Furious driving'.

I work as a cop and was using an unmarked car one day, had some nugget on my tail who when I went to turn right got all irritated, beeped his horn twice and waved his fist at me. So as he went past I motioned for him to pull over. He was quite white faced when I had words with him. :) Hate people tailing gating when there is no need for it.
