Anyone not like being overtaken?

and the sort of degenerate animal that sits in the middle lane or 3rd lane doing 70mph, and wont move over because "im doing 70mph, im allowed to be in this lane"

that one makes me burn inside till the vain on the side of my head explodes.

I've never minded being overtaken. If someone is in more of a rush than me I'd rather they passed than sit on my bumper trying to intimidate me into speeding up.

I used to like a good race, but I think I've grown out of petty egotistical competitions now.

A few years ago I overtook a car pulling a caravan near Kendal as the guy was crawling up a hill (safe manouver).
As soon as I did that we has flashing his lights and tried to catch me up. He almost hit my bumper. The missus was frantic as we had both our kids in the back.
I managed to lose him but sheesh what an idiot.

After being on the bike for 2 months now, I can why so many motorcyclists overtake people in cars, and I'm starting to do it too now. I have the acceleration to get behind cars quicker than I do in the car. There's a road I ride down which is a 30, with speedbumps, now; I can get behind the people quicker because I don't need to slow down for the speed bumps, so on this road i'm usually overtake the people. I'm only reluctant to overtake people in other places because I'm only on a 125 and don't want some barry boy chav to speed up when I'm overtaking and put me and other people in danger, because from the looks of it a lot of people seem to get the cob on with bikes overtaking them, lol.

I have to admit to being a little childish on these sometimes when Mr rep thinks his Vectra is sure to be first away.

Nothing wrong with traffic light drags :-) As long as you're not a **** about it anyway, i.e. if the other car is easing away then back off and give them room to slot back in.

TLGP is harmless fun in the right conditions. i think its particualrly funny when you get absolutely pasted by something, i was once shocked at the rate a 997 turbo pulled away from an audi diesel... ie like i was in reverse

Couldn't have been an S-Line then.

This for me as well, although middle lane drivers annoy me, I'll be driving along in the inside lane and to have to come out to the outside lane, then all the way back in again.

My first car was a 0.8 Matiz so I've always been used to getting overtaken :D

Nowadays I still don't really mind as long as they don't do anything stupid. The other day though I was travelling down a 30 road which has speed bumps for about 3/4 mile, so I was going around 20, and this guy in a new looking Audi sporty edition of some kind overtakes me hitting 2 bumps at speed just so he could pull into his drive about 20 meters away. Really makes me think how impatient people are. I don't like being stuck behind a slowcoach but I'm happy to cruise and save fuel and wear and tear if there's only a few minutes in it.

Sorry, but no one likes being overtaken by someone on a scooter, because ultimately, when the road opens up you will be holding cars up.

Very few people mind being overtaken by a proper motorbike. In fact the majority actively try to let them pass.

I entered into a TLGP yesterday (something I very rarely do), with a very bright blue Vauxhall Astra VXR, I was away leaving him standing with his tyres scrabbling at first, but as I passed 50 or so miles an hour he was reeling me in quite quickly, we were level pegging by 65-70 and as we then crossed onto a private road he was pulling away, at about 60 though I realised I hadn't actually got my foot right down and I hadn't used full kick-down anyway (nearly though), for the sake of my gearbox ...but I can't deny it, whichever way you want to spin it, those Astra VXR's are quick, they just struggle to put the power down initially, since up-to 50 he was getting owned by a 5.1 metre long barge with lazy engine and automatic gearbox.

He has a weight advantage, I have a power advantage, except his weight advantage is bigger than my power advantage and there is a strong possibility his car is remapped, so he might even have more power, who knows.

Was a bit of harmless fun, there wasn't anything else on the road anyway, since it was private, well the bit we went over 70 on was anyway.

Also, how many people in loud and shouty Vauxhall VXR's actually expect what they think is likely some old bloke in a black Jag saloon to actually take them on in the first place :p ...I really did not know what the outcome would be, although I suspected he would leave me standing initially and I would reel him in, not the other way around! The Astra VXR is a bit quicker though, I'm sure of that now, well that one was anyway. Now if I had only got the 4.2 litre engine, it would have been different :p

I don't mind being overtaken. At least not if it's done with any level of skill.

What really gets my goat are the drivers who will drive up to you and sit on your bumper all the way through a 30/40 limit, then try to overtake you the moment you get back into a 60. They clearly have no idea what speed I'll want to accelerate up to! A couple of times I've let people like this past, only to find that they want to cruise at 45mph in the NSL bit.

I need a faster car - then I could accelerate away like a scalded cat and let them get on with it! :)

OMG you think an S-Line diesel will give a 997 turbo a run for its money!?

Oh easily.

regarding TLGP, does anyone know what the 'law' surrounding nailing your car off a set of lights up to the speed limit? NSL, for example. :D Would you get done for dangerous driving if it was a fairly empty area, or if it was just built up/busy etc?

Just out of interest :)

I'd think that as long as you keep it in the correct lane, don't excessively wheelspin, don't affect other drivers or make a nuisance of yourself, it'd be fine. Would be interesting to get a legal answer though...
