8800GT or 9600GSO ?

No no no no no no !

I didnt say that I wanted BOTH cards!!!

But you're returning the 8800GT because it's faulty right?

I know you don't want both but if you bought one, it developed a fault and you get a replacement they have supplied two cards (it's not like they can sell the faulty one again).

( Although it does look that way in your post fatty )

Was that directed at me or you? :p

Hope you are able to sort this out quickly, I know being stuck without a decent gfx card can suck heavily.

Im truly not that bothered to be completely honest. Im lucky and I have a few PCs and a few graphical options, and this is not even for my main PC, but the fact remains that I paid £100 for the 8800GT and so I expect to get a replacement card thats the same performance.

As for going ATI, in total truth, I would have preferred to go the ATI route and had they offered it to me, then Id have done it in a flash, but Im not greedy. I got an nVidia originally, and so therefore I am only requesting an nVidia back.

I like ATI cards but my Best ATIs are 3x X1800XT and an X1900XT so thats well below what they are these days I suppose, but they are still more than capable cards for most games.

But you're returning the 8800GT because it's faulty right?

Yes of course.
The card started to whine and I was in warranty for a few weeks still, and so I contacted them to orgasnise an RMA ( I was actualyl 50-50 on just getting a new cooler TBH but since its still in warranty, I thought I would go the proper router just in case.

Annoyingly, thay have had the card for over a month

Was that directed at me or you? :p

LOL, it was in brackets as a dig that you lot could say to me, so, it was aiming back at myslef yes.

Why? whats up fatty? LOL

Hm...

Post came this morning.

They sent me a 9600 even after saying they will send a 9800!!!!

Its as if they have completely ignored me and back-pedalled.

I will contact them once more, because they might have already done teh 9600 and its just had to go through, and perhaps the 9800 is also on its way?

I wil give them a chance anyway before I announce who they are and if I dont get a successful result ASAP, then this will be the final straw because I have not been happy with their service on the last 3 deals that I have done and Im simply no longer happy with their sub-standard after sales service... Or lack of.

I hate it when they do that and they will try and claim now they have given you a replacement and now its not their problem.

If you have any more problems got onto trading standards and if there a member report them to the PCA.

Demand for a 9800GT/GTS 250 or HD4770/HD4830/HD4850 if you're ok with ATI !! There's no ways in hell I would replace an 8800GT for a card that gives less performance...

If they've ignored your request and sent a 9600 I'd send it back and firmly ask for a 250 or even a 260 due to the inconvenience and poor level of customer service.

+1 to this, I can't believe they've tried to shaft you with that after the agreement you'd made. Definitely hold onto your guns, and if necessary speak to the man at the top of the company. Or at least threaten it, that's when stuff really starts to happen.

Thanks guys... I have indeed had a right go at them. I told them that we had a deal, and that I am simply not happy with this and that I am not accepting it but to be fair with them, they themselves organised an RMA and I have been given an RMA number with a WRONG ITEM ORDERED note etc.

And the yare now telling me that they will send out a 250 instead of a 9800

Im happy about that.

What I am peeved about is that I live miles away from a post office, so not only will I have to go into town, but also I will have to post it off too, and thats going to cost me.

But, these things are sent to try us.

lets see what happens in the next couple of days then,

I did notice, that even though I sent off the original 8800GT 6 weeks ago now, its going to be a further...What week perhaps before I get the replacement, that makes it 7 weeks in total.

Have a read about the distance selling act and when the suppliers take over 30 days... Interesting reading.

Who's the company? Asus are terrible for RMAs a google would tell they have trouble turning the product around with 2 months sometimes

Ok, update for you...

This morning I received another EMail saying that they have finally received the item for checking and replacing.

Naturally I read into this and my thoughts are :

1 - Checking?
2 - Replacing?

No, they sent me the completely wrong item and they did accept this!

I have also not only left it in the box, and its in the exact same condition as they sent it to me, but I never even took it out of the delivery box either! - Once Isaw it was wrong, I went to send it back.

They also tell me that it will take 5-7 working days ( Thats 2 weeks in english money ) and then, if they refund me, it will be another 5 days - WTF?

Im getting sick of this now.

I have already been waiting well over a month for them to sort me out, its closing up to 2 months Im sure ( Need to check dates ) and I am seriously, seriously thinking of drawing my future dealings with this company to a close. This is not the first time I have had similar results from them, but I am bloody well sure its the last.

I am still trying to get them to send me my stuff from the last purchase I made from them and even that has got to the stage where even complaints are ignoring me.

Dam that sucks :( Thought about trading standards, I'm sure people on here have thrown around the fact an RMA shouldn't take over 28 days?

Thats right.

Legally in the UK if you do any distance selling then you have these rights.

This also applies for RMA'ing goods too of course.

I am in a legal position to ask, and indeed demand 100% of not only my original purchase, but I can in fact also ask, for not only the cost of sending the original item off to be RMA'd bu talso for re-sending the wrong item back too!

You must remember that I have had to send an item back, not once, but twice now.

Whats really really funny is that its not at all as if I am desperate... I have loads of PCs and right now, I am using another 8800 in that PC... Sure its ont a 320MB GTS but then again, the only games I seem to be playing are the Dawn of War series... Even the 9600 They were sending is more than enough to play those I recon, but thats not the point is it.

Ok, thought I better update you all.

I had teh replacement a couple of days ago.

Seems to be working fine.

In the end I got a PALIT 250GTS thats got 1GB RAM. My 8800GT has 512MB and to be quite honest for the last few weeks I have been using an old 320MB 8800 GTS and I have yet to see any difference in them for my needs and in fact if truth be told, Id probably not see that much difference from the X1800XT either except I have put it back to 1650x1080 instead of 1280x1024

Anyway, its done and its dusted and its all over now.

Thanks for the support everyone.

Glad it worked out in the end. After a similar couple of months with an Asus rma (they sent the right board, just happened to send a dead one) I don't deal with them anymore. A shame really, I liked the look of the rampage gene.
