I never understand things like this. The ps3 is fixed hardware, as is the router. It either works or it doesn't. I am unsure how it can work for some people and not others. The people who can't get it to work have their config wrong or reception issues.Have you tried WEP encryption as opposed to WPA? Some people have issues with that router and the PS3 using WPA is seems.
I've got a Netgear DG834GT and the 1.02.19 firmware has known issues with security. I had exactly the same wireless trouble as you're having.
Revert back to the 1.02.16 firmware and you'll be set.
What known security issues are you referring to? I used 1.02.19 and everything works as 1.02.16 (my previous firmware). I connected WPA devices to it fine?
From what I read there are some DHCP reservation issues with this firmware (Although I did not come across these). I have seen this with some older DG834x firmwares. This is not a security issue though?
hi this is the state of play i flashed the firmware to the dgt teams 1.02.16 and tried both wpa and wep set ups also i disabled the security and still no go and that is on my pc and not the ps3 which is the unit we want to connect to , the router sees the ssid and net key and has full strength signal and sits saying "aquiring address" but this is as far as it gets i have no problems with the wired side it runs great , but no wireless ?
i have tried all those settings and still nothing
iv diabled security and both m ypc and my sons ps3 can get on line wirelessly -so what am i doing wrong as i dont want to leave the system open ?
tried that didnt seem to work ie static, although i may have not set it right ?
Not quite, that would be if you wish to reserve an IP address from the DHCP pool to always be given to the PS3 (that still uses DHCP, which in his case, may be broken in some way).iirc you need to find out the mac address of the PS3 and then assign that mac address a permanent IP on your router.
I connected my ps3 to the dg834gt and it would not connect so I jsut entered the IP manually and it is fine.
